As a Global Facilities Technology Team Design Manager, you will manage a team of Domain Experts in the Engineering Disciplines of: Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Water, Wastewater, BIM, Gas, and Controls in the design development and execution for Micron's Global Network of Manufacturing Front End, Assembly and Test, and Probe Plants. You will be responsible to lead high quality engineering services and specifications for the coordination of designs of the building and services to support the Micron Global Manufacturing Network.

Responsibilities and Tasks
Design managers coordinate all design matters relating to a project, helping to ensure that the multi-disciplinary teams building the project work together efficiently and that project design is delivered on time and within budget. A design manager typically starts work on a project before construction begins during the scenario stage and continues until construction is complete.
The job role of a design manager involves the following duties:

  • Motivating and encouraging internal and external design teams
  • Ensuring structural and MEP drawings and designs are produced on time, to a high quality, and are easy to decipher
  • Leading all aspects of the design process using technical expertise
  • Working with customers to ensure that their expectations are met
  • Reviewing designs with health, safety, sustainability, and operational efficiency in mind
  • Avoiding errors and reducing financial risk during construction
  • Ensuring designs are available to those who need them, at the appropriate time
  • Maintaining thorough documentation of the design process
  • Keeping up to date with changing building legislation and codes of practice relating to design
  • Working in an office, with occasional site visits.


Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required, Master's Degree desired.
  • Minimum 10-year experience in Engineering Design and Management
  • Ability to prioritize and schedule workload and work on multiple tasks concurrently
  • Good interpersonal skills and Service attitude
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and good team working skills, English required
  • Self-motivated worker
  • Familiarity with semiconductor manufacturing and facilities systems
  • Ability to travel internationally up to 50% of the time


Plans facilities changes for plant, office, and production equipment layouts, working toward economy of operation, maximum use of facilities and equipment, and compliance with laws and regulations. Coordinates with architecture/engineering firms in developing design criteria and preparing layout and detail drawings. Prepares bid sheets and contracts for construction and facilities acquisition. Reviews and estimates design costs including equipment, installation, labor, materials, preparation and other related costs. Inspects construction and installation progress for conformance to established drawings, specifications, and schedules. Develops criteria and performance specifications required to meet unique operating requirements and building and safety codes.
