As a Design Engineer in the core components team, you will have design responsibility for cylinder heads, engine blocks, combustion joints, housings, and other core engine castings within Large Power Systems Division. You will contribute to the development of new diesel, natural gas, and alternative fuel reciprocating engines serving a variety of customers across the world. You will partner with a global team of engineers, suppliers, and production facilities to develop products throughout their lifecycle through the phases of concepting, design, validation, production, and post-production support.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Design and validation of components for New Product Introduction (NPI) programs
- Lead and support Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) and New Source Introduction (NSI) programs
- Research and develop new technology (NTI)
- Collaborate and communicate with internal and external customers, suppliers, team members, manufacturing facilities, and other business units
- Product maintenance and support
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in an accredited Engineering curriculum
- Relevant work experience required - minimum of 3 years
- Engine component, system, or platform design experience
Top Candidates will also have:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Casting design and manufacturing experience
- Mechanical, thermal, and fluid simulation and analysis experience
- APQP, PPAP, PCN, and design releasing experience
- Validation definition experience using FMEA and DVP&R methods
- Experience with low cycle, high cycle, and thermo-mechanical fatigue
