As an Email Product Designer/Developer on the Operational Communications team, you'll help bring that purpose to life through the design and development of a world-class operational email experience. Your work will be key to Target's communications with its e-commerce guests , and will keep customers informed and supported when shopping Target's diverse fulfillment channels.
About you:
The Email Product Designer/Developer is responsible for designing and developing responsive emails (UI , front-end and back-end code) alongside a team of Senior and Lead Email Designers/Developers. The designer/developer will produce, proof, test, and troubleshoot dynamic HTML emails that follow both brand and current code standards.
The successful candidate must be able to show specific work samples and case studies demonstrating clean, high-quality email code that supports templated designs with brand standards and leverages current email best practices across major inboxes/email clients.
Responsibilities include:

  • Create world-class, responsive email code for the operational side of Target. com (orders, account, reviews, loyalty, registry, and much more!)


  • Explore how we make these important communications more personalized, human- centered, and actionable by using design and coding techniques that drive results


  • Generate new concepts and hypotheses, facilitate A/B testing ideas, and pivot quickly to new directions based on feedback & learning


  • Follow-through on delivery: own final email code by working primarily in Salesforce Marketing Cloud


  • Create fluid, responsive, precise, front-end HTML designs and connect back-end services and logic using AMPs cript and data extensions


  • Execute complete end-to-end testing of each email using Salesforce Marketing Cloud and Litmus testing tools


  • Collaborate cheerfully with others, including other designers, developers, product managers, content designers, and accessibility team members


Requirements:

  • 1-2 years of Experience with HTML/CSS front- end coding specifically for email (fluid responsive design layouts, device breakpoints and workarounds for limitations of email clients/browsers) with an eagerness to learn and expand your skills in the email space


  • Minimum of 1 year of coding and email development for Marketing Automation platforms, preferably Salesforce Marketing Cloud but open to other ESPs


  • Expertise using Adobe Creative Suite, Figma or equivalent to manipulate and export email design files


  • Experience working within corporate brand standards


  • Experience with Litmus, Email on Acid or equivalent testing tools


  • Willingness and ability to adopt new technologies, languages and/or frameworks to keep up with new trends and best practices


  • Curiosity about design thinking, the design process, and eager to expand your email and design skillset in the future


  • Possess strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced, action-oriented environment


  • Able to translate technical explanations to non-technical parties


  • A passion for the email space and the specific intricacies of designing and developing emails


  • Experience with AMPscript is a plus


  • Experience with Figma is a plus


This position may be considered for a Full-Time Remote or Hybrid work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Hybrid work arrangement means the team members core role will be a blend of virtual and onsite at a Target location . A Full-Time Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that's not a Target location, does not have a desk at their primary HQ work location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year.
