We are looking for a Director of UX Research to join our FinTech client’s team. This role represents the lifeblood for our growth, improving the user experience and differentiating our digital capabilities from our competition. You will be responsible for driving a significant aspect of our digital transformation strategy.

We are looking for team members with a learning mindset, who can jump right in, make connections that are seemingly unrelated across products and experiences, and are excited to learn the ins and outs of commercial banking products and collaborate with cross-functional partners. You are an advocate for the user and the design process and care deeply about all the details because you know it’s these details and moments that matter that enable great end-to-end experiences. You embrace ambiguity and thrive in complexity.

Would you like to…

  • Provide thought leadership to the design community, to inspire and provoke knowledge and new ideas.
  • Provide design leadership and innovation opportunities through engaging with colleagues from other teams to ensure that iterative design and Design Research and Content Strategy approach is understood, adopted, internalized, and effectively leveraged
  • Hire, mentor, and coach a growing team of talented UX Researchers with a focus on attracting top talent to solve complex challenges and craft experiences that highlight our unique capabilities and personalities
  • Direct the design and execution of end-to-end custom primary research using a wide variety of methods, and interpret analysis through the lens of business impact, UX, HCI, and social science
  • Generate and communicate insights that shape how product teams think about medium and long-term product strategy
  • Direct teams and participate in in gathering user insights and feedback to design and create short-term recommendations and future state visions that align with broader product strategy and create impact for the business
  • Facilitate information gathering working sessions and collaborate seamlessly with Product Managers, Engineers, UX designers, researchers and other cross functional stakeholders to understand business objectives, needs, and constraints while creating designs that provide creative, thoughtful solutions
  • Communicate complex design concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences at varying levels of the organization with minimal conflict and complications between collaborative and cross-functional personnel

We would like you to have…

  • Excellent communication, problem solving, and collaboration skills
  • 10+ years of experience in applied product research and a portfolio of work that includes examples of leading strategic research with significant business outcomes
  • Expertise in qualitative and user-centered design methods.
  • An understanding of strengths and shortcomings of different research methods, including when and how to apply them during each product phase
  • Strong knowledge of user-centered design principles, careful attention to detail, and ability to see the bigger end-to-end-picture
  • The confidence and natural storytelling ability to create engaging presentations and stellar communication skills to share-out research and analysis learnings clearly and effectively to other product executives and leaders across the organization
  • Proven experience working independently, quickly and reliably in a fast-paced, creative environment with a keen attention to detail - A Master's Degree in the study of design including one of the following: Design, Information Architecture, HCI, or equivalent project/portfolio experience (preferred)
  • Experience in banking services or federally regulated environment is a plus - Experience working with the innovation economy is a plus.
  • Experience with SQL/Hive and/or Python and large datasets (> 1TB)
  • Experience applying multivariate statistical methods such as GLM, analysis of quasi-experimental research designs with non-equivalent groups (e.g., regression adjustment, matching, propensity score stratification), longitudinal analysis, classification, dimension reduction, clustering, hierarchical linear (random effects) modeling, etc., to people research problems in organization.
  • Bachelor's, Masters' or Ph.D. degree in related field preferred or equivalent relevant experience
  • Experience in banking services or federally regulated environment is a plus - Experience working with the innovation economy is a plus.
