About the role

Lattice is looking for a Director of Product Design, Performance to lead an impactful, growth-oriented, and quickly scaling team of Product Designers as we cement our position as a category leader. You will be responsible for owning the design strategy for a portfolio of products. This is a unique opportunity to develop the design culture to support the next several years as we rapidly scale. In this role, you will help us reimagine the experience of enterprise software and build highly leveraged products that enable thousands of companies, including ours, to engage, retain and develop high performance with their employees.

If you see the potential of how delightful people management tools can transform a business, this role is for you:

  • As a manager, you will be responsible for helping to scale the Product Design team, its culture, and its operations through this exciting growth phase. You’ll also be expected to support, coach, and help grow the team’s members into the next generation of design leadership at Lattice.
  • As a design leader, you will be responsible for partnering with Research, Engineering, and Customer Experience to establish a multi-year vision and strategy for your portfolio of products that result in end-user experiences that redefine performance management. You’ll also be expected to set new levels of excellence for craft and execution, and chart a course for your team to get there.
  • As a senior member of EPD, you will be expected to partner with leadership across our organization to ensure we are developing our platform on common primitives with high degrees of product interoperability.
  • This role is excellent for leaders who excel at strategy/storytelling, relationship building, and systems-thinking. This role will report to our VP of Design.

 Who you are

You have 7+ years of progressive experience in Product Design, including 4+ years experience managing Designers (ideal candidate will also have experience managing managers).

  • Ability to shape and evolve an inclusive recruiting practice that attracts world-class designers of diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to foster cohesion and cultivate a healthy design environment in a co-located, distributed, or remote world.
  • Ability to identify opportunities for improving team operations/efficiency backed by timely and empathetic change management.
  • Ability to develop teams of designers to become the next generation of key contributors - investing in coaching, mentorship, and empowerment.
  • Knowledge of associated practices, including, User Research, UX Writing, Brand Design, and accessibility standards.

You have experience establishing a vision and strategy that help to shape the future of the business.

  • Ability to communicate design's potential impact on business outcomes.
  • Ability to partner with Research to identify UX opportunities, then work cross-functionally to influence strategy at the product and platform level.
  • Mastery in solving unstructured problems that have many dependencies and may have lengthy timelines. You are comfortable with ambiguity, autonomy, and responsibility; you enjoy figuring out what needs to be done—and then doing it.
  • Ability to define and communicate clear expectations for excellence, then chart a course at the product and platform level.
  • Preferably, you have professional experience with multi-product, B2B SaaS applications

You’re a great communicator, collaborator, and facilitator.

  • You're a compelling and confident storyteller.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with a talent for succinctly articulating customer challenges and enumerating tradeoffs.
