Our Opportunity

Chewy is dedicated to being the most trusted and convenient online destination for pet parents (and partners), everywhere. On the Product Design and Research team, we embrace this vision (and our pets!). We craft experiences that delight customers (and the businesses and veterinarians that support them) and empower them to keep their pets happy and healthy. As a team of hard-working, collaborative, and fun-loving designers, researchers, and builders, we’re looking for creative and driven talent to join the pack.

We are seeking a Director, Product Design - Connected Care to join the Chewy Health design team. This position require candidates to be located in either  Bellevue, WA or Boston, MA hubs (relocation assistance available). As the design leader for Connected Care, you will lead a team of designers creating a suite of services that enable a seamless omni-channel customer experience for pet parents to engage with their vet across the full lifecycle of care. This is a new role and an opportunity to lead the creation of an entirely new service experience to reinvent how pet care is delivered.

You will help create product experiences that enable pet parents, businesses, and veterinarians to accomplish their goals in elegant and enjoyable ways – from how they schedule appointments, interact with veterinarians and staff in the clinics, to pay for services, get the medications and post-appointment support they need to manage their pets health after their visit.

An ideal candidate will be adept at leading teams that bring consumer level quality to expert users in complex B2B regulated industries. You are experienced in cross functional collaboration and have created and executed against a design vision and a multi-year product roadmap to make it real for customers.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead new creative and holistic thinking across diverse product releases, platforms, and devices; drive the direction, style, and methodology of design and accessibility.
  • Champion cohesion and consistency in UX design that unites a growing family of features, while continuing to nurture and evangelize a fervent culture of invention and innovation.
  • Lead cross-team conceptual development; be a strategic thought leader in how to implement unmatched experiences that represent the most customer-centric intersection between design, business, content, and technology.
  • Foster Chewy’s culture and principles within the group while setting new standards in executional and operational excellence.
  • Recruit, assess, hire, develop, and retain an organization of outstanding UX personnel.

What You’ll Need:

  • 10+ years of experience in User Experience Design that includes 4+ years of people management and leading teams.
  • Experience managing a team in a high growth environment; prior success with managing employees across multiple products and/or programs.
  • Experience providing direction to deliver on priorities and build repeatable, sustainable processes that support operational excellence.
  • Fluency in best practices for User Interface Design, Information Architecture, and Interaction Design; practical knowledge of User Centered Design processes and lifecycles; ability to provide and effectively communicate strategic and tactical recommendations based on quantitative/qualitative data and optimal Design practices.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the latest design concepts, emerging technologies, and other developments in the user experience field.
  • Effectiveness in working across organizational boundaries to influence and deliver results.
  • Exemplary analytical skills and high judgment.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills; the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization.
  • The ideal resource will have worked in and managed user experience design groups in large, product-based organizations; they would also have experience working in a complex environment, with a proven ability to consider the impact of their decisions, past their own products.
  • Able to translate concepts into concrete depictions to clarify ideas and advance collaboration based on shared understanding.
  • Bachelor’s, or equivalent degree, in Design, HCI, or related field or equivalent professional experience with the design field.
  • Position will require occasional travel and will require time in the local office (Bellevue, WA or Boston, MA)

Bonus:

  • Experience leading teams responsible for designing complex workflows that support expert users and customers
  • Experience delivering experience across multiple channels including desktop, mobile, kiosk/POS
  • Experience in healthcare or other highly regulated industry
  • Effective balancing of multiple priorities, delivery speed and design quality
  • Willingness to roll up the sleeves to meet business and product deliverables
