The Director of Design Technologies will enable, support, and assure that our design teams have the software and tools necessary to deliver well designed, high performing, regenerative projects with technical proficiency. This position sits within the Design + Performance (D+P) Leadership Team and reports to the Executive Director of Design + Performance. The D+P Leadership team is a cross-disciplinary team that leads and defines quality standards, practices and policies for Design, Delivery, Sustainability, and Technologies.

What you will do

• Develop the firm’s capacity in computational design and BIM technologies
• Inspire curiosity and maintain awareness of emerging technologies, processes and tools that will drive greater value in our firm through quality and innovation.
• Engage and understand the broad needs and desires of our design professionals.
• Lead the research and testing of new tools and technology to support design and technical excellence.
• Direct and support the integration of said tools, processes and skill development.
• Convene and lead meetings with team members including information gathering, working sessions and presentations. 
• Collaborate with the Technical Design and Delivery Director to optimize the integration of best practices and digital technologies for state-of-the-art delivery of construction documentation and construction administration (CA) services. Together set and communicate quality and delivery standards and practices for the firm.
• Manage D+P software and technologies as a part of the annual planning and budgeting process. 
• Lead and support BIM and Computational leaders while collaborating as needed with the Director of Enterprise Information Services. 
• Cultivate an environment that celebrates learning from both successes and failures.
• Contribute to thought leadership on Design Technologies and create opportunities for others to do the same.

What we look for

• Professional degree related to architecture, interior design, urban design, engineering, software engineering or data science required.
• Minimum of 10-15 years of professional experience in a project-specific BIM/digital design role, minimum of 5 years managing a team.
• Experience with BIM 360/Revit required. Rhino, Grasshopper, Adobe, Vray, Enscape, 3ds Max, Dynamo highly desired.
• Ability to facilitate feedback and encourage discussion across wide ranges of user groups, with a progressive and collaborative mindset.
• Experience managing and leading teams across disciplines and geographic regions.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills. Must be able to effectively communicate technical and strategic concepts.
• A strategic leader and collaborator who understands and helps set the course to design the future.
