Position Overview

We are looking to hire a Director of Design Ops reporting to the VP of Experience Design within the Digital Experience & Customer Empowerment (DXC) organization. The DXC team is responsible for ensuring delivery of a seamless experience across the full customer life cycle from discovery to onboarding to using our products. Our Experience team partners with marketing, sales, customer success, legal, engineering, product management and others to achieve success.

This role is a trusted advisor to the leader and will focus on strategy, operational efficiency, and organizational alignment. This includes managing and driving the design process to ensure rapid decision making, coordinated execution, and visibility to key initiatives within the team all while incorporating the Autodesk Culture. Candidates need to demonstrate a successful history of challenging the status quo, driving team collaboration across different business units, developing strategy and realization plans, meeting facilitation, and staff development. The key objective of this role is to maximize the design team's value and impact.

Preference for candidates in Atlanta, Georgia. Open to remote candidates on east or west coast.

Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with the VP of Experience Design as a trusted advisor and thought partner (e.g. chief of staff), to help shape the design org and operational excellence
  • Help define, build, and grow the design ops organization for experience design
  • Manage the experience design organization's strategic roadmap by tracking all initiatives and verifying execution and updating dashboards as needed
  • Keep a continuous pulse on the creative teams' health and productivity through the use of feedback collection, surveys, and focus groups
  • Bring clarity, direction, and support throughout all stages of the creative process
  • Create, plan, and facilitate staff meetings, QBRs and other rhythm of business cadence to accomplish clear and effective decision making, tracking and reporting on follow-up actions required
  • Drive governance, processes, and communication for Design Leadership in ongoing staff meetings, including project statuses, team health, blockers, and communicate key quantitative metrics across Design Operations
  • Vendor and Outsourcing Management
  • Measure, improve, and maintain Design impact metrics, ensuring they align with company objectives and effectively communicate the value of Design to the business
  • Drive development of OKRs and alignment with partner teams within DXC
  • Help evaluate and implement the team's creative toolset to ensure teams have the resources they need to do their best work
  • Advise on organization-wide strategy and planning, including creative critiques, and creative summits/events
  • Work across teams and functions to identify strategic opportunities to improve team processes, optimize productivity and advance our design culture (e.g. outside in culture)
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to elevate and amplify the leader's capacity, capability, and effectiveness. This role will act as a sounding board, serve as liaison or proxy when needed, and manage executive communications



Minimum Qualifications

  • Deep knowledge and experience working within the experience design organization
  • Seasoned experience in design management and operations
  • Experience leading and supporting high-performance, collaborative, design teams; expertise in design development processes
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships across multiple business units and functions
  • Manage diverse and complex tasks: Works on issues of diverse scope where analysis of situation requires evaluation of a variety of factors, blending strategic policies with an understanding of current business trends with implications to the design organization
  • Demonstrated ability to act as an advisor to peers on topics of employee engagement, strategy development, and operational efficiency
  • Have built and led design operations teams and programs at scale
  • The person will also require having a high degree of influencing skills to be able to succeed
  • Great written and verbal communication ability at diverse levels-able to be effective with executives and inspiring with design teams
  • Well-practiced in holding discovery sessions and creating an action plan from the results
  • Experience and high competence in Figma, Asana, and Adobe
