Who we are looking for
We are seeking a leader to join Nike's Consumer Creation organization as a Director of Digital Product Design to help us drive digital transformation within the Digital Product Creation (DPC) organization. This individual will lead all aspects of user experience research, service design, interaction design, and visual design for specific digital products within DPC!

As part of DPC, you will use the power of data and digital capabilities, technology, and talent to fuel a consumer led, digitally native product ecosystem. One that amplifies creativity, drives seamless creation and unleashes obsessed consumers! We accelerate and empower a digital future for our internal employees to better serve our consumers from planning to design to creation to consumer. You will join a fast-paced, dynamic team of Digital Product Designers, Product Managers, Engineers, Portfolio/Program Management, Insights and Transition Managers.

Specializing in human centered design, your role will be to develop a cohesive strategy, grow the team, scale our design thinking and design execution, improve our products' usability, and influence roadmap decisions. Your strategy will shape and define the foundation of the user experience for our digital products and help make Digital Product Design a core pillar within our organization. As a natural leader, you will have the desire and commitment to mentor and support the team you are managing and building. You'll advise and inspire teams by collaborating with cross-functional partners to ensure product roadmap decisions are made with educated information. You will be responsible for the planning and execution of end-end digital product design. You will partner and collaborate with design leaders across Nike to bring in standard methodologies to build delightful products.
What you will work on

  • Own the digital product design vision and philosophy for your area
  • Manage all aspects of digital product design and execution
  • Evangelize the human-centered design processes and specific methodologies
  • Oversee design efforts for projects, assign work to the team and approve for Creative Review
  • Collaborate with product management, engineering, business, and other partners across the organization to elevate digital product design and make it our competitive advantage
  • Work with Product Management to understand how users are using the product and continually find opportunities to further improve and optimize the user experience
  • Build, mentor, and inspire a team of Digital Product Designers by providing vision and direction
  • Build, evolve and scale design processes, standards, and tools
  • Lead prioritization of user experience features and deliverables by working with cross-functional teams
  • Experience leading design teams working in Agile software-development process
  • Facilitate design thinking workshops, working with multiple partners to drive empathy for the user, and identify ways to address unmet needs and create delight
  • Use data and insights to envision the future of Nike products and experiences
  • Contribute to, maintain, and help evolve Nike's design system and product design language (UI components and patterns, iconography, assets, etc.)

Who you will work with
This role would report into the Design function of the Digital Product Creation (DPC) organization within Consumer Creation.
What you bring
The ideal candidate will have experience leading and mentoring a Design team in addition to having a hands-on approach in designing and building end-to-end technology solutions.
Skills:

  • Experience leading end-end design responsibilities for technology solutions
  • Impeccable execution and care for all aspects of design from conceptual thinking to visual design
  • Excellent communication skills to engage with users, engineers, and other product partners at all levels
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and foster relationships
  • Highly developed empathy, curiosity, and imagination
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguity, a fast-paced environment and take initiative
  • Experience working within a team to build, maintain, and/or contribute to a Design System
  • Experience in roadmap planning for Design and partnering with Product to ensure user needs are met
  • Passionate about driving innovation and continuous improvement with a solid understanding of digital tools, trends, and infrastructure



Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 10+ years direct experience in digital product design or equivalent
  • Ability to build a highly effective team by attracting and retaining top industry talent
  • Experience leading and mentoring multiple designers on large-scale projects
  • Bachelor's degree in design, advertising, art direction, or a related field
  • Experience with modern design productivity, workflow, and research tools (Figma, Jira, Slack, Miro, Monday, Adobe C, Google Analytics, Hotjar, CrazyEgg, etc.)
  • Experience in design facilitation and leading Design Thinking workshops
  • Experience with front-end development HTML/CSS, JS/REACT/VUE, etc
  • Proven experience in manufacturing, product creation operations, product line or assortment planning
