The Freemium Mission is one of the largest R&D organizations at Spotify. We are responsible for the entire consumer journey, starting with people hearing about Spotify for the first time to longterm fans. We take users through the Freemium funnel from Free to Premium users, building relationships with listeners around the world, no matter where they are in life, identifying new opportunities to grow our consumer base.


We are looking for a senior operations specialist to work within our mission focusing on our Design and Insights functions, where you'll focus on the orchestration and optimization of design and insights processes, in order for designers, user researchers and data scientists to be able to focus their time and effort on the craft. 

What You'll Do

  • Set up and drive the full rhythm of design reviews, design processes/sprints, and events.
  • Drive and iterate on the insights rhythm and establish a joint rhythm between Design and Insights.
  • Create a system for planning design sprints, as well as tracking and facilitating the design sprints.
  • Establish a Design Mission Review including how individual teams review ladders up to this, preparations ahead of each review, facilitation of the reviews as well as capturing all feedback and follow up on actions.
  • Help form, drive and support strategic focus areas for Insights.
  • Drive the Design and Insights communities, making sure designers, user researchers and data scientists feel connected across different teams and locations, including leading all team events
  • Create and manage a system for how work is shared and communicated in our channels and newsletters
  • Manage the Insights budget, including forecasting, reconciliation and PO tracking.
  • Look for ways to standardize and harmonize Design and Insights artifacts, processes and workflows.

Who You Are

  • You have many years of experience working in an R&D / Software environment, where you’ve worked cross-functionally with tech / product / research / design.
  • You have extensive experience working with complexity, where you can identify and drive initiatives that have multiple stakeholders and many moving parts.
  • You are very structured and well organized, have worked with budgets, managing contracts and vendors.
  • You have a deep understanding of the design process and product development, and extensive experience of driving projects focused on product design and research.
  • You see the bigger picture, are analytical and can quickly grasp what is an actual problem/opportunity and what needs focus.
  • You are an efficient communicator, have a can-do / fearless attitude, a flexible mindset, and are responsive to a changing environment.
  • You can interact with senior leaders, and are an influencer that can lead without formal authority.
  • You are great at building relationships, and also bring playfulness and sense of humor to work.
