Job Title:

Design Graphics Designer III

Job Description:

You will communicate with customers, engineers, and others about the properties of drawings. You will also build and modify technically complex design layouts, sketches, and solid models of transmission components and assemblies using NX software. Your work will require both 2D and 3D CAD skills. You will also learn to read cross section and assembly designs and their corresponding limit stack Excel documents to enable new component design creations.

Essential Functions*
  • Build and modify NX Parametric 3D model/fully defined 2D drawings of simple to moderate complexity parts and assemblies, working from sketches, layouts, notes or verbal instructions from engineers or layout designers
  • Apply quantitative methods to define drawing dimensions and requirements
  • Use available standards and processes to assure accuracy and completeness of the drawing specifications
  • Enter required data in SAP PLM (Product Life-cycle Management)
  • Occasionally works with internal and external customers on material and supplier quality specifications
  • Physical presence in the workplace required
  • Other duties as assigned


Education Requirement:
  • Associate degree in Computer Graphics Design, Mechanical Engineering Technology, CAD apprenticeship or equivalent experience

Skills and Abilities:

Required:
  • Formal CAD, MET education and/or work experience
  • Basic layout understanding and detailing experience on transmission components or comparable products
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints
  • Basic knowledge of mathematics including geometry and trigonometry and the ability to apply it to solve difficult or complex problems
  • Working knowledge in applying and understanding geometric design and tolerance
  • Good oral and written business communication skills
  • Ability to effectively work in a team environment

Preferred:
  • Basic knowledge of automatic transmission operation and components
  • Introduction and basic understanding related to the design of large complex sand and die cast housings
  • Experience utilizing limit stacking fundamentals and procedures to design components with tolerancing
  • Creative engineering design skills
