OVERVIEW
The Design Director performs double-duty, responsible for both creative leadership and people management. As a people manager, you are key in developing individuals on the team, helping them realize their potential. The Design Director is also a skilled practitioner. You show you can bring it when it comes to design delivery and are willing to roll up your sleeves and do the work when needed.
You understand how your role in the creative process makes work better through strategy, superb execution and by pushing the boundaries of creative excellence.
Samples of recent commercial work should be provided to be considered.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Sets the standards on design projects
- Candidly critiques work, pushing it from good to great
- Proactively tracks trends in design across the industry and the world
- Inspires and mentors through various knowledge sharing and training tactics
- Reviews work, and ensures design integrity stays consistent
- Delivers regular check-ins with direct reports and annual performance reviews
- Helps establish the vision and values for the design program
- Leads by example; contributes to design projects on various levels, as required
- Execution excellence
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Education in graphic design or related field preferred*
- 5+ years agency experience
- Understands the structure of a brand's identity-how the visual and verbal executions come together to create a holistic brand experience
- Comfortable giving and receiving feedback; balances compassion and candor
- A desire to develop others and affect all the design work across the agency
- Thorough knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud applications
- Resourceful and finds solutions
- Proactive and takes initiative
- Strong attention to detail and efficient time management
- Effective handling of multiple projects in a fast-moving environment
