Role & Responsibilities

Airbnb.org is looking for a driven and inspirational multidisciplinary creative leader to join the design team. This is an individual contributor (IC) role that will report to the Design Manager on the Airbnb.org team. The work will be inclusive of visual design, experience design, art direction of photography and video as you help steward the Airbnb.org brand and focus on creating impactful engagements between our brand and rapidly-growing community. You will be responsible for creating digital campaigns execution across many touch points such as email, landing pages, display ads and more, helping to raise the bar of creative excellence in our team.  

Our ideal candidate has a portfolio of varied work with demonstrated success building engaging digital experiences, brand architecture, storytelling leveraging multiple medias. 

Responsibilities will include

  • Navigate a wide array of creative executions including art directing photo shoots, conceptually directing storytelling formats, prototyping interactions, designing web experiences, developing illustrations and designing visual templates for presentations
  • Collaborate with designers, marketing, community, stakeholders and production agencies to serve a global audience
  • This is a hands-on as well as strategic role to lead and create best-in-class digital marketing campaigns, storytelling moments through photography and video, and internal brand needs
  • Conceptualization and execution of creative solutions alongside our design manager. This includes executing work on their own, as well as managing and approving the work of their creative team (external vendors). 
  • Understand the technology behind emails, landing pages and display ads and communicate the creative vision clearly to developers and engineers. 
  • Foster a respectful and collaborative environment. 
  • Define and develop creative best practices to create compelling, engaging digital  campaigns
  • Help ensure quality visual/art direction production and effective communication with creative teammates, agency partners, production companies, and external clients. 

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8+ years of relevant experience, preferably a mix of agency, consultancy and/or in-house experience
  • Outstanding portfolio demonstrating best-in-class digital work
  • Strong conceptual and brainstorming skills, leading and participating whenever needed
  • Experience collaborating closely with Engagement marketing teams. Ability to translate market research, data, and strategy to creative solutions
  • Dependable and capable of managing creative project details and delivering timely work
  • Strong background in visual design and design thinking, with a proven track record of working on multidisciplinary efforts
  • You're a conceptual thinker who can bring your ideas to life in new and inspiring ways, capable of seeing your vision through from concept to launch.
  • Ability to think both strategically and tactically, concept through execution 
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills—you can effectively communicate and passionately defend decisions both internally and to clients. 
  • Empathy for the customer, and empathy for individuals on a creative team
