We have a rare opportunity in Compression Systems Engineering (CSE) for an Associate Director - Operational Commercial Engines (OCE), based in East Hartford, CT. In this role you will manage the design discipline team responsible for the development of design solutions that improve and sustain the safe operation of our portfolio of mature commercial engines, and their derivatives. As a member of our team you will have the opportunity to work on solutions affecting a wide breadth of parts throughout the Fan, Low Compressor and High Compressor modules. Our team is responsible for a broad portfolio which includes the PW2000, F117, PW4000 family including Tanker, V2500 HPC, GP7000 Fan/LPC and FT4000.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organize and manage task assignments. Support the CIPT in task planning, manpower requirements and coordinating of in-house and outsource resources.
  • Drive employee professional development.
  • Provide cradle-to-grave ownership through design, development, validation, certification, manufacturing and operational service.
  • Ensure support for multi-discipline teams to provide design solutions that balance customer requirements.
  • Chair product reviews and drive discipline excellence.
  • Ensure outsourcing work is completed, reviewed and approved.
  • Coordinate with other groups to read across lessons learned, solve problems, advance technology and improve engineering standard work processes/methods.
  • Communicate status and results with all levels of leadership.
  • Integrate the compressor design with the engine systems team and other module centers.



Basic Qualifications:

  • BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with12+ years of turbo-machinery experience with a concentration in gas turbine engines.
  • US Citizenship due to government program requirements
  • Up to 10% travel



Preferred Qualifications:

  • M.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering.
  • Broad knowledge of product design processes and overall engine system integration.
  • 15+ years of turbo-machinery design experience with a concentration in gas turbine engine compressors.
  • Proficiency with Mechanical Design tools, including NX, TeamCenter or equivalent.
  • Ability to craft clear communication and develop strong relationships.
  • Strong analytical skills and/or ability to interpret results.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, leadership, and teaming skills.
