The National Security Sector within Leidos is seeking a PostgreSQL Database Administrator with strong systems, software, cloud, and Agile experience to support the Passenger Systems Program Directorate (PSPD) within Customs and Border Protection (CBP). PSPD supports the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and CBP critical missions, specifically screening and processing travelers at the ports of entry (POEs) into the United States.
In this hands-on position, you will work collaboratively to architect, design, build, deliver, and enhance highly available, scalable, real-time systems. You will exercise your judgment in determining and recommending the best designs based on customer business objectives, timelines and other resource constraints. You will participate in and/or direct major deliverable of projects through all aspects of the software development life cycle including scope and work estimation, architecture and design, coding and unit and integration testing.
**This position REQUIRES the candidate to be in Ashburn, VA, 2 times a week**
Primary Responsibilities:
Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and support ability and effectiveness analyzes.
Designs and implements database schemas and structures according to project requirements.
Develops and maintains documentation for database environments, including data standards and procedures.
Plans for storage requirements and database growth, and scale infrastructure as needed.
Collaborates with developers to optimize queries, stored procedures, and database design for applications.
Must be a self-starter, strong leader, and the ability to work independently with little supervision.
Minimum Qualifications:
BS/BA degree and 10+ years of prior relevant DBA experience or Masters with 8+ years of prior relevant DBA experience; OR 4 years of experience in lieu of degree
4+ years’ experience tuning Aurora PostgreSQL database performance and PL/pgSQL scripts to optimize performance
4+ years’ experience as an AWS Aurora PostgreSQL DBA in a 24x7 environment managing multiple databases of over 70TB.
Individual must have at least 4+ years’ experience as an Oracle DBA in a 24x7 environment supporting databases of over 200TB
Proficiency in tuning Oracle Databases and troubleshooting performance issues.
Able to support on-call schedule and incident resolution.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Visio, & PowerPoint)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
U.S. Citizen.
Must be able to maintain and obtain a CBP Background Investigation prior to start
Preferred Qualifications:
Migration of Oracle to Aurora PostgreSQL with over 70TB migrating from Oracle to Aurora
Experience using Generative AI to tune SQL statements
Experience with CBP
Java Experience
Experience with other AWS data related services
Experience with any of the following: Struts, Hibernate, Java, JSF, Swing, JavaScript, Bootstrap, Angular.
Experience with CI/CD, SecDevOps, Git source code repository (GitLab, GitHub)
