Job Description Description for Internal Candidates
The Wholesale Payments - Analytics Solutions Senior Associate - ChaseNet role is a mix of strategy consulting (defining the "what", problem solving, client interactions), and analytics product management. The role requires excellent strategic thinking to engage with C-level executives on defining the data and analytics roadmaps that drive business value and then running execution for the programs in close collaboration with Data Science, Development Operations and Big Data Infrastructure.
The Wholesale Payments - Analytics Solutions Senior Associate - ChaseNet will work collaboratively across Wholesale Payments product, analytics and technology teams to shape and deliver our next generation data platforms and products. ChaseNet is a closed loop platform that simplifies processing traditionally involving 5 entities (Merchant, Acquirer, Network, Issuer, Consumer) into 3 (Merchant, ChaseNet, Consumer). ChaseNet offers pricing based on volume and transactions, inclusive of processing costs, assessments and payment brands fees. It is a Chase product that has been experiencing double digit growth over the last 5 years. This role is ideal for a candidate that has experience delivering tangible business results by collaborating in a matrix organization and working with large data assets.
The role has four main areas:

  • Analytics translator - Combines practical experience in a quantitative field and strong communication skills to interface between data scientists and business experts. Clear communicator and presenter of analyses. Works with data scientists, engineering, product owners, and other internal teams to understand and solution new use cases as part of our overall product strategy.
  • Creative problem solver - Able to find the right frameworks and connect with experts from across the Firm to solve key product pain-points and/or come up with proposals to enhance the value of the close-looped network. Having a persistent drive to get things done and will cultivate lasting relationships.
  • Subject matter expert - Develop deep expertise in credit and debit cost of payments, to safeguard the product profitability and optimize the client value.
  • Content creator - Requires clarity of thought and ability to communicate with presentations and slide decks. Pursues problems towards what matters to business leaders. Leads the enhancement and maintenance of existing capabilities. Enabling the broader organization and being an agent of change by developing and communicating a deep understanding of how payment, client service and data platforms work.


Qualifications:

  • A deep interest and aptitude in data and analysis. Working knowledge of tools for data manipulation and statistics (SQL, Pandas, R, SAS, MATLAB, Excel, etc.) Experience with articulating product questions, leveraging analytics to get to an answer.
  • Strong analytical and business skillsets. Capable of translating analysis into business recommendations. This is an incredible opportunity for hybrid thinkers that love to learn and synthesize in a high-performing inter-disciplinary / cross functional field.
  • Highly articulate, built on an underlying clarity of thought. Proactive problem-solver, takes ownership and has the grit to follow through. Ability to root out issues, bring order from chaos, synthesize elegant insights and drive to clear decisions.

  • Management consulting skillset (problem solving, impact orientation, business understanding, program management, executive presence)


Experience Requirements:

  • 3+ years of relevant experience (financial services, product management, or data analytics related activities)
  • Bachelor's degree in a related data discipline (i.e., Computer Science, Economics, etc.); Advanced degree preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills to both partner with and influence stakeholders
  • Experience in analytics (e.g., SQL or Python) and the ability to analyze data to make decisions
  • Experience with data and analytics platforms
  • Understanding of application development process
  • Experience in the payments industry a plus
