Job Description The Sr. Data Steward will help improve data quality and consistency and support program data certification requirements by analyzing process controls and root cause, coordinating activities to support problem resolution, and developing metrics to support processes, as needed.
Data Stewards are guardians and decision makers for specific data elements related to metadata and data quality. Data Stewards are responsible for understanding metadata, usage, standards and quality for specific data elements. Data Management also controls access to data based on the understanding of the data, setting key classifiers that grant differing levels of access to critical data such as personal, account, authenticators, and privacy data.
Additionally, a Sr. Data Steward is expected to understand and oversee key controls in the end to end data lifecycle, from creation to consumption, and ensure processes are aligned properly across Architecture, Technology, Analytics and Regulatory Reporting. Sr. Data Stewards will partner with Data and Product Ownership to implement and oversee key controls, provide direction in support of key data registrations, understand the impacts of data migrations and decommissions, and evolve our data operating model. Lastly, a Sr. Data Steward is expected to identify and mitigate data risk across various areas such as data definition, data use and access, data classification, etc.
Responsibilities:

  • Individual contributor supporting the CCB Sub-LOBs in understanding, disseminating and adopting applicable data policies, standards and processes.
  • Partner with and support Data and Product Owners across a wide range of data-related topics, including key controls in the Data Lifecycle
  • Understand, identify and mitigate data risks
  • Provide status on assigned work items for management and stakeholders on a recurring basis.
  • Engage with assigned areas within the business to develop/enhance knowledge and subject matter expertise of the line of business processes, systems of record and authoritative sources and their usage.
  • Define terms and definitions for critical data elements in conjunction with business and technology partners.
  • Capture metadata, review profiling results, document issues and establish data quality monitoring required for certification.
  • Responsible for defining the data quality validation rules and thresholds for Critical Data Elements.
  • Responsible for logging, categorizing and performing root cause analysis for data quality issues for the business.
  • Identify data quality issues through profiling and advanced analysis.
  • Assists in the development and presentation to business leaders.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business preferred or related equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a major financial services organization, with experience in management and oversight
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in any of the following disciplines. Data Usage, Process Analysis, Process Improvement, Technology Development/Support, Data Controls
  • Understanding of the business, including operational processes.
  • Experience working with the data systems supporting the CCB businesses, including experience writing queries and analyzing related queries.
  • Advanced analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to understand business and technical functions, process information quickly and assess impacts to data elements.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) skills.
  • Advanced MS Office suite skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Project)
  • Highly organized as the role requires keeping up with the ever changing environment. Examples include new and improved tools and methodology to maintain the data quality and integrity.
  • Minimal direction required. Data Stewards work closely with other stakeholders and are expected to independently provide information related to their individual and group's book of work, and provide input into prioritization. CCB Data & Analytics
