The Technology & Innovation (T&I) scientist will conduct and support projects that develop new products and processes. This support will include both the technical and operational aspects of product and process development using or following the Stage-Gate process. The incumbent must be able to operate both individually and in teams and will support new product and process launches. The individual will be responsible to support Materion' s Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, Sales, and Marketing teams; in addition, some customer support may be required.
You will have the opportunity to:
- Comply with and support all EH&S activities while operating in a safe, honest, and ethical manner
- Support Stage-Gate project activities through performing manufacturing processes and testing
- Lead small-scale projects within the plant
- Operate under the direction of both supervisor and tenured engineer/scientist
- Develop SOPs, Work Instructions, Process Flow Diagrams, FMEAs, and Control Plans for new products and processes in cooperation with Operations/Quality
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelors' degree in engineering, physical sciences, or materials science field (e.g., Metallurgy, Ceramics or Materials Science)
- Experience participating in engineering and product development projects, which may include internships and co-ops
- Minimum of 1 year experience participating in engineering and product development projects
- LS GB certification preferred
- Experience including data acquisition or design, materials/chemical processing technology
- Proven product or process development skills
Travel Requirements:
- Up to 15% travel may be required based on business need.
The selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on the candidate having export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology which comes under the licensing jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
The candidate selected will have to qualify as either a U.S. citizen, a U.S. National, a lawful permanent resident of the U.S., a Person Admitted into the U.S. as an Asylee or Refugee., a National of a country that is not prohibited from having access to U.S. controlled technology (via a letter of assurance), or a Person to be approved for an export license by the governing agency whose technology comes under its jurisdiction.
