Job Description Specifically as part of the Business Intelligence team, this person is responsible for installation, configuration and administration of the Tableau / Alteryx server and client applications. Duties will include establishing best practice methodologies for the administration of the Tableau platform. This position involves the design and development of data infrastructure, data source creation, security (user access), change control of Tableau objects and overall Tableau support. Development experience in the Tableau environment is required.
Job Responsibilities

  • Perform installation, administration, migration, upgrades and configuration of Tableau/ Alteryx Servers under High Availability scenario
  • Performance analysis of existing Tableau/ Alteryx Servers and make Best Practice recommendations
  • Support activities across a multi environment Tableau infrastructure including security administration, release management, troubleshooting and general systems maintenance
  • Extensively used Tabadmin and Tabcmd commands in creating backups and restoring backups of Tableau repository
  • Experience in Debugging, performing system/application tuning by identifying long running reports.
  • Proven understanding of high availability, data/system replication, and disaster recovery methodologies in the system and database spaces (Postgres especially)
  • Manage sites, projects/ collections , c onfigure and manage project permissions and p rovide periodic reports on Tableau/ Alteryx Server usage
  • Publish Tableau workbooks and data extracts / Alteryx workflows/ apps/macros
  • Configure and maintain Active Directory integration and SSO with Tableau Server . 2nd tier support to user community on various Tableau / Alteryx Server and Desktop issues
  • Create Tableau/ Alteryx related Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
  • Perform analytics on previous incidents and usage patterns to better predict issues and take proactive actions
  • Build and drive adoption for greater self-healing and resiliency patterns
  • Participate in the 24x7 support coverage as needed
  • Lead and participate in performance tests; identify bottlenecks, opportunities for optimization, and capacity demands


Highly motivated with the ability to work effectively in diverse team environments as well as independently
Required Qualification

  • Minimum 7 years of Tableau Server administration , 5 years of Windows Server administration
  • Development experience in the Tableau environment and customizations
  • Proficient in Windows PowerShell scripting , Python scripting
  • Excellent understanding of Active Directory, DNS, Load Balancer and Network firewall
  • Experience configuring Single Sign-on (SSO) with SAML authentication
  • Experience in Cloud practices (AWS, etc.)
  • Proficient in Tableau command line utility
  • Alteryx Server administration is a plus
  • Good understanding of database concepts including writing SQL statements
  • Experience with Jira in managing tasks and good understanding of Agile process
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
