The Staff Scientist in Sustaining Engineering group is responsible for leading and implementing projects that will deliver value to the company, facilitate growth and meet cost, quality, and delivery objectives. Performs optimization of products/processes, production procedures, specifications, product scale-up, technology transfer, and process/product validation activities.

This position is an integral part of the Miami Consumable Sustaining Engineering and report to the Senior Manager. The role is located in Hialeah, Florida.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Lead process/product improvement projects for the Hematology, Flow Cytometry, and Particle Characterization businesses that ensure product quality while achieving direct material cost savings.
  • Identify and resolve the sophisticated technical issues with current Hematology Reagent and Immunology products or qualify enhancement to the existing or modify products.
  • Optimize production procedures and process/product specifications.
  • Independently design, execute, and analyze complex experimental work as well as present conclusions.
  • Use Continuous Improvement mentality to manage projects, problem solve and identify process improvements.
  • Communicates difficult concepts and influences others to adopt a different point of view.
  • A strong team contributor and results-oriented.



The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or science with 9+ years' experience OR Master's degree in field with 7+ years' experience OR Doctoral degree in field with 4+ years' experience.
  • Problem-solving skills, root cause analysis, experimental design, statistical data analysis and interpretation of results.
  • Strong technical background in designing and writing study documents, including study protocols, experimental records and study reports, etc.
  • Proven track record of working in GMP environment with automated manufacturing production.



It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Hematology, conjugation, purification, and reagents manufacturing processes
  • Design changes in a regulated environment are highly desired.
  • Project leadership/management experience.
