Minimum Qualifications

  • BS/MS degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field or equivalent experience
  • 5 years of experience working with diverse DB technologies like PostgreSQL, GraphDB, NoSQL DB, Snowflake, Redshift, etc.
  • 5 years of programming experience using Python or equivalent programming languages (Java, Scala, etc.)
  • 5 years of experience working with cloud-based data integration platforms (like Informatica Cloud/IICS, Azure Data Factory, Dell Boomi, SnapLogic, IBM) in either AWS or Azure, or on-prem like Informatica PowerCenter
  • Expertise in commonly used data technologies such as Apache Airflow/Astronomer, AWS Glue, Lambda, Databricks, Spark, Kafka, Azure Synapse, Kubernetes, DBT, Fivetran, Redwood, Tidal, or similar.
  • Expertise in building large Data Lakes and Data Warehouses.
  • Expertise with all aspects of data systems, including ETL, aggregation strategy, performance optimization, and technology trade-off
  • Understanding of data access patterns, streaming technology, data validation, data modeling, data performance, cost optimization
  • Experience defining data engineering/architecture best practices at a department and organizational level and establishing standards for operational excellence and code and data quality at a multi-project level



Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience in data tech stack in Cloud Platforms in either AWS or Azure
  • 7 years of programming experience using Python or equivalent programming languages (Java, Scala, etc.)
  • 5 years of experience with relational data modeling, big data modeling, conceptual data modeling and logical data modeling
  • Experience with leading the data architecture design on a department/enterprise level
  • Experience using work item tracking tools like Jira or Azure DevOps



Job Summary

As a senior member on the Data Services and Data Engineering team, you will play a lead role to design, develop and maintain Rocket Auto's data engineering ecosystem, including designing and implementing the architecture within cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure), building ETL (extract, transform, load) solutions for both batch and stream data processing; bringing in new data sources; making sure data is clean, complete and consumable; and designing data models within the data warehouse.

The perfect candidate will have strong data infrastructure and data architecture skills, and work as part of one or more project teams and be responsible for designing and building mechanisms to move, integrate, cleanse and publish large volume datasets. This is a developer role with a specialty in data and requires deep knowledge of a variety of programming languages and design patterns.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain a cloud-based data architecture within AWS/Azure comprised of Data Lakes, Warehouses, Batch Data Integration, and Streaming
  • Research and promote new tools and techniques to shape the future of the data engineering environment
  • Work closely with data scientists, micro-service developers, and security experts to build out the data platform incrementally and securely
  • Work closely with the product management and development teams to rapidly translate the understanding of customer data and requirements to product and solutions
  • Maintain an excellent understanding of the business's long-term goals and strategy and ensures that the design and architecture are aligned with these
  • Design and support the new and evolving sources of data being brought into the data warehouse
  • Develop data modeling best practices and act as a subject matter expert for data models across all areas of the business
  • Work closely with the other data engineers to help create and drive technology and best practices for data management consumption
  • Assist in driving adoption and standardization of data governance, lineage, cataloging, and stewardship practices across teams
  • Proactively mentor and train other data engineers
