Job Description

The Staff Data Engineer works within the Lega, Risk and Compliance Analytics Delivery team as individual contributor participating in integration design, development, deployment, and support of technology delivery projects. 

This position requires close collaboration with business partners to understand their business goals, understand requirements, develop and implementation of solutions following SDLC and agile methodologies. This position provides L3 support to business partners and requires investigation and resolution of the issue and requires collaboration with multiple IT teams including source systems and operations. Works with global team members to ensure SDLC processes and documentation are completed with quality, and on a timely basis. contributes to solution selection and requirements elaboration, responsible for assigned design, configuration, development, and testing deliverables. This position requires the resource to work independently with minimal supervision and needs to be self-motivated. This position requires performing complex data analysis across multiple data sets to derive insights, metrics, evaluating completeness of data

The position can be based at Visa's office in Foster City, CA or Atlanta, GA, USA.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead problem solving sessions to develop analytical solutions which help Risk & technology leaders to make data driven decisions
  • Lead reporting automation requirements gathering for report/dashboard automation
  • Drive detailed data analysis including the identification of data sources and data elements, creating of Entity-Relationship Diagrams, as well as detailed metrics calculations
  • Support other allied architecture and integration activities. Assist in developing documentation around system integration, data flows, data dictionary, user guides and best practices.
  • Ensure project delivery within timelines and budget requirements
  • Derive insights, trends from cross functional datasets
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to junior team members

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office two days a week, Tuesdays and Wednesdays with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 7-10 years of work experience in delivering Business Intelligence and analytics solutions, driving data analysis for complex, cross-functional programs
  • Advanced working knowledge and experience in SQL and relational databases. Experience with MySQL and big data technologies is required
  • Strong experience in writing and optimizing efficient SQL queries along with Python, Hive, SQL, handling Large Data Sets in Big-Data Environments
  • Experience in ETL, preferably Talend and visualization tools, preferably Tableau is required
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently with strong time management and ability to execute on multiple concurrent deliverables
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to think strategically and drive decision making

  • Experience in leading global teams is required, working knowledge of Risk domain is a plus
  • Experience in extracting data from SaaS applications using API’s and other methods
  • Experience in managing Data Integration and Data Quality platforms
  • Experience in blending and integrating data from multiple sources for analysis, insights, metrics
  • Experience with data mining, cleansing, examination of data , trend analysis, drive insights
  • Exposure to R or statistical programming is advantage
  • Strong collaboration skills to work with multiple business and technical partners required
  • Exposure to Risk and Internal Applications domains is a plus
