Position Summary:

The Business Analyst will play a key role as subject matter expert on business processes in manufacturing that interact with customized manufacturing software systems and Siemens OpCenter manufacturing execution systems. This role operates in a scaled agile framework and in a global manufacturing software system team. This individual will plan, analyze, and/or implement efficient and sustainable IT and business system solutions to support manufacturing operations. This individual will work with Manufacturing, IT, and Quality to optimize manufacturing processes and systems to drive business process improvements, system automation, continuous improvement, and other duties associated with multiple sites production support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Engage in and facilitate stakeholder discussions to understand, analyze and document business requirements, business processes, and technical specifications
  • Gather high level and detail requirements and collaboratively author details requirement and design specifications
  • Participation in the process of collection of requirements and writing of validation documents
  • Develop effective user stories and own the backlog
  • Conduct process modeling in Camstar based on the operations requirement
  • Conduct solution assessments, design localization solutions to ensure that functional and technical specifications meet the business needs
  • Combining global solution and reusable components for integration of system, machine and user interfaces, as well as modeling design to meet the business requirements
  • Create, review test plans and scripts, conduct testing of the solution to ensure the functional and technical specification are met
  • Modify or build new configurations in the MES solution to support continuous improvement to manufacturing processes
  • Assist with UI design and development, integration definition to support interface requirements
  • Participate in activities required to support production, including but not limited to troubleshooting, investigations, MES users support, periodic reviews, root cause analysis, preventive and corrective actions.
  • Create presentations to help communicate complex technical, organizational, and project concepts and status
  • Capacity to see the big picture and develop plans with a global mindset
  • Support inspections and site audits as needed.
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt in a demanding and fast-paced environment.


Experience and Education Requirements:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline, and a minimum of 5-8 years related experience or Master's degree and 2-5 years equivalent.


Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of applied experience in manufacturing and MES technologies, including automated data collection, visualization, quality and efficiency
  • 3+ years of experience with Siemens Opcenter (Camstar)
  • 3-5 years of experience in MOM/MES applications, integration with other major plant floor and / or enterprise applications, for example, APS, PLM, ERP, SPC and shop floor manufacturing equipment
  • Excellent written, verbal and team skills
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical users
  • SDLC and project management skills
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams to drive and influence changes and improvements

Functional Description

Analyzes complex business problems to be solved with automated systems. Identifies gaps and provides technical expertise in business requirements for system functional specifications and scales new and current systems, processes and procedures in a cost effective manner. Configures system settings and options; plans and executes unit, integration and acceptance testing to meet business requirements. Designs details of automated systems. May provide consultation to users in the area of automated systems. May lead cross-functional linked teams to address business or systems issues.

  • Possesses broad understanding of technical principles and theories. Ability to synthesize external data and research findings for application that may impact technical objectives.

  • Demonstrates successes in technical proficiency and independent thought. Works on complex problems in which analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors. Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.

  • Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work, general instructions on new assignments.

Workplace Type

  • The Workplace Type for this role is Flex. Based on the nature of your position you will be working onsite approximately 2-3 days per week from collaborative space and hoteling desks at our Dexcom sites. You will need to be located within commuting distance (typically 75 miles/120km) of your assigned Dexcom site.
