Responsibilities

As an Investment Operations Senior Analyst - REMOTE on our Data Operations team, you'll be providing support to investment teams in Principal Asset Management. This role will primarily be focused on managing, analyzing and reporting investment security and valuation data to business partners and clients. You will also advise senior management of any gaps or deficiencies in controls or our risk framework and work together to address them and increase operational efficiency. The team operates in a fast-paced environment that places an emphasis on continuous learning, collaboration, and maintaining an equitable and fun working environment.

  • Independently perform complex procedures, analysis and report preparation to support the department and other internal service areas by answering questions regarding proprietary and non-proprietary investments. Ensure compliance with established regulatory and operational procedures. Identify and resolve advanced problems. Lead/conduct special analysis and/or provide project leadership. Oversee and drive investment administration, account reconciliation, reporting, transaction management, compliance, data, trade support activities, revenue sharing activities, or unit value calculations. Support investment initiatives through active participation in projects, development and implementation of new initiatives, process reviews and/or system enhancements. Serve as a mentor, technical trainer and resource to junior team members.
  • Independently execute complex transactions and resolve complex problems with recordkeeping, accounting, trade platform and/or pricing system. Serve as subject matter expert and team resource. Oversee the investment builds and changes, compliance rules, to ensure readiness for trading, reconciliation, settlement, and/or pricing process. Identify and resolve complex issues associated with client data, trade breaks, reconciliation breaks, and/or compliance breaches. Prepare reports and maintain controls in alignment with internal policies and clients' needs. Act as escalation point and subject matter expert for investment operations activities. Lead, drive and/or participate in projects. Lead, recommend, research, test and/or document system changes.
  • Interface with internal and external personnel including senior operations staff, administration, mutual fund companies, legal, IT, compliance, tax, banks, broker dealers, custodians, subadvisors, outside vendors, regulatory agencies and/or industry contracts to educate, provide direction, influence results and decisions, obtain information and resolve problems.
  • Serve as a mentor, technical trainer and resource to Operations Associates, Operations Specialists, and Operations Analysts. Demonstrate expertise in the areas of technical functions, research of issues, problem solving, formulating recommendations, independent decision making and effective communication.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, plus a minimum of 5+ years related experience required
  • Degree in accounting, finance, economics or business preferred
  • Experience in investment/mutual fund operations or related field preferred
  • Good working knowledge of financial services / investment products and services preferred
  • Success in this position requires a strong client service orientation, the ability to work under pressure in a deadline driven, team-based environment and the ability to produce accurate and timely information independently
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, interpersonal and communication skills required


Successful candidate will have the following:

  • Attention to detail
  • Solid problem solving, planning, time management and decision making skills
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships, exercise flexibility when dealing with people and effectively communicate with internal and external contacts at all levels
  • Basic PC and/or system skills
  • SQL background preferred
  • Handle multiple, complex tasks, prioritize effectively and be flexible as business needs change
  • Ability to take initiative, be a self-starter and work independently



Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

Salary Range

$58650 - $114000 / year
