Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY

  • Perform analysis and provide recommendations for Pricing of specific fares and customer segments handled by the Global Pricing Team. This can include Sales and Promotional offers for all customer segments across the Southwest network, as well as specific programs for Groups, Packages, Government and Corporate Travel.



RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Proactively perform "top-down" analyses of system-level trends that could be impacted by or may be improved with Pricing actions; some work may involve partnership with Business Decision Support Team
  • Provide recommendations for co-terminal/catchment area pricing strategies
  • Serve as analytical Leadership for entire Pricing Team; provide mentoring and decision-support as-needed
  • Develop and distribute Pricing Analysis reports
  • Perform ad-hoc pricing strategy analysis (LCC competition, city performance, marketing sale mechanisms) • Represents Pricing and Revenue Management in cross-Team discussions; is qualified to speak on behalf of Pricing Team in external setting
  • Collaborate with Marketing on pricing strategy at system/regional level
  • Own execution of Sale Planning process (e.g., weekly Sale Planning meeting, price point/T&C selection, route selection)
  • Manage Group product from Pricing perspective
  • Manage Southwest Airlines Vacations product from Pricing perspective (policies, discount grids, analysis and sale planning)
  • Manage Government product from Pricing perspective (annual bid, revenue estimates, post-analysis, policies)
  • Build effective relationships within Revenue Management and other departments
  • Leads or initiates analytical projects outside of scope of responsibilities
  • Must be able to meet any physical ability requirements listed on this description
  • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders

  • Must have a strong Analytical background

  • Creates tracking mechanism and actively follows-up to gauge impact of actions
  • Able to identify relevant items for communication both internally and externally without being coached by Leader
  • Structures and writes concise communications with limited Manager guidance
  • Identifies project/analysis opportunities and is able to prioritize in context of other work
  • Commences work on own and provides unsolicited checkpoints to leader on progress
  • Has courage to make decisions with limited amount of available information
  • Solid, professional communication skills and can interact effectively to all levels of internal/external Customers
  • Manages multiple own concurrent initiatives - Is able to quickly and accurately respond to urgent requests

  • Understand general pricing strategies and thinks strategically about opportunities for pricing-driven revenue gain



EDUCATION

  • Required: High School Diploma or GED
  • Required: Bachelor's Degree
  • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, Math, Business or Engineering



EXPERIENCE

  • Required: Minimum 4 years of experience where primary responsibility in one or more of the following areas: applied statistics, operations research, business analytics, transportation or shipping network design, forecasting, or supply chain management or Master's Degree and 2 years of experience
  • Required: Experience with relational databases (Teradata, Oracle, Access)
  • Required: Intermediate level experience working with Excel

  • Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
  • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
  • Must meet confidentiality expectations as to confidential, proprietary and sensitive Company information
