Job Description:
Responsible for defining, maintaining and enhancing the Equipment domain for the enterprise including Caterpillar and non-Caterpillar assets. This role will work with partners across the enterprise to define the data requirements to be incorporated/included into equipment domain ensuring coverage, alignment and the link exists between equipment data and customer and transactional data. These requirements are critical to enable the success of our enterprise digital applications and products and serve our customers. This requires deep subject matter expertise of equipment data and a clear understanding of the many use cases for equipment data throughout the organization.
Once defined, the equipment master steward will be responsible for the ongoing quality and accuracy of the domain including facilitating and coordinating data corrections, data changes and data issues/grief. The role will also be accountable for ensuring compliance, security, data privacy and governance, and proper access management of the domain. This role will define and develop the data dictionary and business glossary ensuring understanding and consistency.
- Act as subject matter expert for the data that resides in Equipment Domain.
- Responsible for ensuring the data is managed in accordance to policies and standards
- Support the data strategy and enterprise use cases
- Define the data standards working with partners across the enterprise
- Define and validate business definitions for each data element
- Identify and proactively address the need for changes in the Equipment domain data
- Define quality rules and checks in place to ensure high quality, accuracy, and usability of the data
- Develop and own an issue management process and ensure known issues are addressed.
JOB DUTIES:
Develop and steward the Equipment Domain to support data and application integration. Development of process to manage data standards and reporting are required. Leverage tools and domain expertise to proactively identify changes needed for quality improvements or improved use of the domain. Monitor and act on any workflow requests for new, changed, or removal of data. Evaluate business cases for data access and grant or deny as appropriate based on use case, security, data privacy and level of access requested. Interact with people from across the enterprise to determine the correct actions for data or domain changes.
- Maintain knowledge of functional technology of the data management systems as they change with upgrades and new releases.
- Ensure compliance with the latest data standards supported by the company, marketing, legal, information security (data security and privacy compliance). Understand data requests specific to project needs and ability to prioritize work to achieve the desired results to meet the business goals for those projects.
- Define the data governance standards and ensure proper implementation. Work with organization partners to ensure comprehensiveness, usefulness, accuracy and understanding of the Equipment domain.
- Identify missing or incorrect data and data standards. Lead Data Privacy Efforts for the division to ensure proper implementation.
- The Data Steward will be able to take direction for other data related duties as provided by the leadership team.
- Employee may also be responsible for performing other job duties occasionally as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- Requires a college degree in Business or related field with 5- 7 years of progressively responsible job-related experience.
- Experience with data management, managing data, understanding data privacy and compliance, etc. is desired.
- Must have proven decision-making capabilities and significant knowledge of Digital product portfolio and key underlying data sources.
- Individual should have a solid working knowledge of company policies and practices and good communication and reasoning skills and understanding of data management.

- Experience writing SQL, querying data in Snowflake and using Alteryx

- Previous experience working with Equipment data including fleet management data, OLGA, Equipment domain, etc. or data domains (e.g. customer, transaction etc. ) is highly desired.
This position has the option to be based out of either our Chicago, IL or Peoria, IL offices with flexibility for partial remote work from home when we return to office.
