Job Description

We are looking for a Sr. Data Scientist to join our Data Science team that is building the best-in-class cyber insurance risk modeling technology. The ideal candidate will have professional experience in developing analytic/ML products that leverage large-scale data sets. Familiarity with risk modeling methodologies commonly used in the insurance industry is a big plus. If you are passionate about transforming data into actionable insights, we want to talk to you.

Job Responsibilities:

• Lead highly complex or critical data science and analytics projects that require a diverse array of data science applications in support of product development
• Responsible for leading problem analysis, solution design, front end and back-end integration, maintenance, and support or data science and analytics solution
• Daily responsibilities include leading multiple, concurrent projects and/or demonstrated project management skills, serving as a project lead guiding less experienced team members in multiple facets of project execution
• Independently develop data science models or algorithms, make recommendations for developing new code or re-using existing code, implementing version control, and maintaining documentation of created applications.
• Define and implement ingestion, data preparation, curation, and governance of large, multi-faceted data sets supporting analytics models and workflows
• Proactively assess current capabilities to identify areas for improvement, proposing solutions that align with core strategy and operation
• Evaluate and make recommendations regarding technical advances that improve productivity and quality, reduce flow times, and enhance operational surety
• Develop guidelines and standards for analytics and machine learning models, deployment, and associated processes
• Provide technical guidance or business process expertise, technical leadership, coaching and mentoring to team members
• Research new data sets and modeling techniques to improve existing cyber-insurance risk models and create new models to support our expanding portfolio of cyber-insurance products
• Monitor industry reports and other sources related to cyber breaches and losses; and leverage that data to tune and validate model performance
• Work with the engineering team to integrate risk models with Measured’s cyber-insurance products
• Develop and communicate technical vision for projects and initiatives that can be understood by internal, external customers and management

Qualifications

• Understanding of a broad array of technical and business issues with the ability to prioritize work and analyze issues to develop innovative and effective solutions
• User experience mindset, including the production of visualizations and infographics to distill complex information
• Extensive applied statistics and analytical experience
• Prefer experience working with Machine Learning software and languages including Python, Jupyter notebooks, and ML/Data Analytics libraries
• BS/BA in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering or quantitative field; Masters in Data Science is preferred
• 5+ years of experience as a Data Scientist working on commercial products
• Working knowledge of Data Engineering tools on AWS such as Glue, Athena, S3
