The Hartford is seeking an energetic and passionate Sr Data Scientist to continue to continue to help build and expand a best in class team that is focused in developing, overseeing, and leading the Model Health Monitoring solution. The ideal candidate will expand the ambitious vision focus on implementing solutions, managing a support team, and communicating with customers, while overseeing the day to day operations of the data science portfolio. The focus will be working closely with our internal data science organization, and support partners. The ideal candidate must be ready for technical discussions with data scientists and engineers, then demonstrate the value of the solution in business discussions with data science leaders and product owners.
Qualifications:
- Strong data science back ground the candidate should be able assist in the development of operational monitoring programs that may include Model Drift, Prediction Drift, Engagement, Concept Drift, Data Drift, A/B testing, Usage and Cost+
- Technical Data Science skills including use of Machine Learning methodologies, as well as gradient boosting, random forests and neural networks.
- The ideal candidate will also be familiar with common data visualization techniques and will have the ability to communicate key data-related findings to business partners of varying technical backgrounds.
- Solution monitoring using a model metric stack is essential to put a feedback loop from a deployed ML model back to the model building stage so that ML models can constantly improve under different scenarios
- 5+ years of relevant experience in Research Function in Insurance or Financial Services or related field
- Subject matter expertinmodeling data and analytical capabilities utilizing Python
- Strong presentation and communication skills to effectively collaborate with partner teams and influence the adoption of MLOps framework.
- Exposure with CI/CD tools and continuous integration (Jenkins, Nexus, Git)
- Basic understanding on ML frameworks (i.e. Scikit Learn, H20)
- Experience with Cloud technology
- Proven experience as an effective business partner across functions, levels, and geographies, developing trusted collaborative relationships and driving successful operational cadences and business outcomes.
- Very strong process design, management, improvement, and documentation skills.
- Excellent documentation, presentation, and verbal communication skills; ability to blend quantitative and qualitative information for effective storytelling.
Desired Qualifications:
- Master's in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Quantitative Economics, Actuarial Science or similar analytic field or progress toward attainment of a relevant professional designation (i.e. ACAS/FCAS, ASA/FSA, CFA, CSPA, etc)
- Participate in Agile ceremonies to execute the MLOps roadmap to deliver ML models to production.
- Bring in new ideas and industry best practices to build state of the art analytical ecosystem to mature MLOps practice at enterprise level
- Experience with Financial Lines insurance a plus
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$98,800 - $148,200
