FM:Systems is looking for a Senior Data Engineer with a strong background developing and maintaining enterprise-level data warehousing and analytics solutions. This person will play a crucial role building our next-generation data analytics platform, joining together cloud data warehouse, business intelligence, data science, and modern web development. You should be passionate about building the right solutions right and be comfortable working in a dynamic environment where flexibility and communication is essential. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Work on ambitious projects in the transformation of clients through data.
  • Work in cross-functional agile teams to continuously experiment, iterate and deliver on new product objectives.
  • Clarify requirements and translate them into robust, scalable, operable data architecture.
  • Creation of architecture and design artifacts and documents.
  • Develop and optimize ETL processes using Matillion.
  • Design and implement data pipelines using AirFlow, DBT and other tools into a Snowflake data warehouse from different products and data sources.
  • Model data and metadata to support ad-hoc and pre-built reporting facilitating data access for our BI tools and analytical reporting.
  • Help drive optimization, testing and tooling to improve reliability and data quality.
  • Use best practices in continuous integration and delivery.

The successful candidate for this role will have the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a computer related degree program or equivalent work experience.
  • 8+ years of professional Software Engineering experience.
  • 5+ years' experience in data engineering doing design, development, and support.
  • Advanced SQL and database design, being able to write structured and efficient queries on large data sets.
  • Design, development, and optimization of ETL processes using industry-leading tools like Matillion.
  • Design, development, and optimization of data pipelines using DBT (mandatory).
  • Design, development, and optimization of cloud data warehouses using Snowflake.
  • Data architecture design, data modeling, and physical database design and tuning.
  • Ability to successfully interface with business stakeholders and engineers to deliver the right solution that balances product, quality, technical, and timeline requirements.
  • Ability to translate technical requirements into elegant and well-designed solutions.
  • Demonstrated skills providing guidance as a senior engineer on a software engineering team to successfully deliver.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A self-starter with an acute sense of ownership and the ability, passion, creativity, and confidence to independently problem solve and produce results.
  • Experience working with Agile development practices.
  • Experience with deployment methodologies such as CI/CD.
