Functions may include database architecture, engineering, design, optimization, security, and administration; as well as data modeling, Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) development, storage engineering, data warehousing, data provisioning and other similar roles. Responsibilities may include management of design services, providing sizing and configuration assistance, ensuring strict data quality, and performing needs assessments. Analyzes current business practices, processes, and procedures. May design schemas, write SQL or other data markup scripting and helps to support development of Analytics and Applications that build on top of data.
Positions in this function are responsible for the management and manipulation of mostly structured data, with a focus on building business intelligence tools, conducting analysis to distinguish patterns and recognize trends, performing normalization operations and assuring data quality. Depending on the specific role and business line, example responsibilities in this function could include creating specifications to bring data into a common structure, creating product specifications and models, developing data solutions to support analyses, performing analysis, interpreting results, developing actionable insights, and presenting recommendations for use across the company. Roles in this function could partner with stakeholders to understand data requirements and develop tools and models such as segmentation, dashboards, data visualizations, decision aids and business case analysis to support the organization. Other roles involved could include producing and managing the delivery of activity and value analytics to external stakeholders and clients. Team members will typically use business intelligence, data visualization, query, analytic and statistical software to build solutions, perform analysis and interpret data. Positions in this function work on predominately descriptive and regression-based analytics and tend to leverage subject matter expert views in the design of their analytics and algorithms.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work hands-on in SQL using Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS)
  • Develop ETL processes using Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
  • Build fully functional, innovative solutions while integrating reconciliation and control processes
  • Drive broader adoption of data visualization tools
  • Continued improvement of user interface tools
  • Support and enhance reporting and analytic tools.
  • Collaborate with business users to clearly define their analytic and reporting
  • Consider the customer experience, business impact and solution objective when managing risks and developing/designing solutions
  • Work independently

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in applicable area of expertise or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of experience in SQL (writing complex queries, stored procedures, code optimization, etc.)
  • 2+ years of experience in reporting & analysis, data management and reconciliation
  • Experience developing ETL processes using Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
  • Experience working with and analyzing data to support downstream applications and end users
  • Proficiency in database design, querying, optimization & troubleshooting
  • Experience writing and executing functional specifications
  • Ability to automate tasks into repeatable processes


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree
  • Medicare & Retirement (M&R) related experience
  • Experience working with Python or R
  • Experience developing with data visualization tools such as PowerBI
