This position will report into the Director Quality Assurance Business Process and will be responsible for designing and developing business processes to better streamline operations, while enabling our end-user data to be more interactive.
As a Sr. Data Analyst in Clinical Performance, you will be empowered to support short and long term operational/strategic business activities; develop, enhance, and maintain operational data and models that will have an impact on business decisions. In this role, you will have the opportunity to use your keen analytical and data management skills to create valuable solutions to improve the health care system.
A successful candidate for this role will be able to pivot between design and development work, will work directly with internal and external business partners on defining solutions, and is a motivated self-starter that is excited to be part of a young, growing team building the future of the healthcare experience.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support Clinical Performance Quality Assurance initiatives in the following capacities:
  • Support data architecture, lead data movement design, and data modelling initiatives to expand and refine reporting and analytical content
  • Partner with the broader Clinical Performance organization to align on and enhance data environments
  • Contribute to and advance data architecture strategy and adherence
  • Prepare design documentation and detailed technical design documents with best practices to enable efficient data ingestion, transformation and data movement
  • Document and communicate architectural vision, technical strategies, and trade-offs to gain broad buy-in
  • Lead and provide direction for data management, data profiling and source to target mapping
  • Create data migration strategies for both historical and incremental data on an ongoing basis
  • Assist with building, optimizing, and managing ETL data processing to support data integration for reporting and analytics
  • Leverage Azure DevOps tools to enable code versioning and code deployment
  • Detect data quality issues, identify root causes, implement fixes, and manage data audits to mitigate data challenges
  • Provide clarity and recommendations on tools, patterns, and directions that will accelerate delivery
  • Leverage and facilitate the evolution of best practices for data acquisition, transformation, storage, and aggregation that solve current challenges and reduce the risk of future challenges
  • Effectively create data transformations that address business requirements and other constraints
  • Leverage processes and diagnostics tools to troubleshoot, maintain and optimize solutions and respond to customer and production issues
  • Other duties as requested

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree (preferably in information technology, computer science, analytics, other related field) or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of combined experience designing and implementing data models and data normalization to support analytics, including concepts such as data engineering/architecture, ingestion, transformation, normalization, aggregation, structuring, and storage
  • 5+ years of experience designing and implementing SQL query and ETL data ingestion using SSIS
  • 5+ years of preparing technical design documentation and gathering requirements
  • 3+ years of experience with Agile methodologies and CA Agile / Rally


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of file transmission concepts (ECG, FTP, SFTP, SSH Keys, etc.)
  • Understanding enterprise reporting tools and concepts including Power BI, SSRS and/or Tableau
  • Working knowledge of web-based UI application development including MS Visual Studio, ASP.NET, Azure Stack
  • Working knowledge of SharePoint Online and Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate) development
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $82,100 to $146,900. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $90,500 to $161,600. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
