We are looking for a Senior Data Analyst to join the Retention, Churn & Commerce (RCC) Analytics team to support a growing ecosystem of Disney's streaming service offerings (Disney+, Star+, ESPN+, Hulu). The RCC Analytics team supports the business in understanding the dynamic and increasingly complex subscriber lifecycle, to maximize acquisition and minimize churn. The function masters experimentation, data modeling, exploratory data analysis, and advanced dashboard building to assess and recommend business decisions. This team collaborates cross-functionally across the Disney Streaming Services organization, as well as with groups and stakeholders from business units across The Walt Disney Company to generate insightful, compelling and strategic analysis and plans. The team's work will drive the development of strategic and operational plans that are expected to have broad influence at all levels of the organization.
What You'll Do
- Develop and maintain core business logic for measuring churn and the health of the DSS billing/payments/fraud product across Disney+, Star+, and ESPN+
- Partner closely with business stakeholders (Product, Business Operations, Engineering, Finance, etc.) to identify and unlock opportunities for growth
- Create and maintain operational dashboards in Tableau and Looker to understand performance over time, enable efficient exploratory analysis, and equip partners with self-serve tools
- Translate complex business questions into SQL or LookML technical specifications, including proper cohorting, calculations, filtering criteria and/or aggregations
- Understand the systems and business processes that populate critical systems with data
- Collaborate with Data Architecture to design scalable and efficient solutions
What To Bring
- 5 years of strategic analysis to inform product or business decision making
- 5+ years of hands-on analytical work experience with SQL (ETL ownership, complex transformations, development of "analytical" datasets)
- A/B testing and statistical fundamentals and experience
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to apply business strategy to data analysis and recommendations
- Expertise manipulating large data sets, interpreting data trends and using a multitude of disparate data sources and tools
- Strong analytical and technical skills to troubleshoot issues, analyze the cause, quickly come-up with possible solutions, document the changes, and communicate organizational impact
- Familiarity with data exploration and data visualization tools like Tableau or Looker
- Ability to think strategically, analyze and interpret market and consumer information
- Strong experience in documenting the data requirements, data strategy, data rules (standardization, cleansing, and validation)
Nice-To-Haves
- Experience in the streaming media industry or other subscription-based service
- Experience in the technology industry, knowledge of data products
- Python experience writing, managing and deploying code
- Familiarity with data platforms and applications such as Databricks, Jupyter, Snowflake, Redshift, Airflow
- Experience operating in an SDLC environment and deploying code
Basic Education
BA or BS in a quantitative field (Business, Math/Statistics, Economics, CS, Engineering, or similar)
