POSITION SUMMARY

The Sr. Business Analyst will play a needed role in our New Markets function, working across the business to ensure project objectives and requirements are gathered, defined, documented, tracked, understood, aligned, implemented, and validated once implemented.  In this role, you will use your strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills to gather project objectives and break them down into clear and well-organized requirements and communicate them across the organization to create and maintain alignment and facilitate high-quality execution.  You will partner closely with project managers and cross-functional teams to help ensure that project scope, time, and budget are well-managed to ensure consistent delivery against project commitments.

THE SR BUSINESS ANALYST HAS 5 MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Alignment - Gain and maintain understanding and alignment amongst a diverse cross-functional audience for project objectives and requirements throughout the project life cycle for high priority, complex, cross-functional projects
  2. Business analysis deliverables - Create, maintain, and improve business analysis deliverables such as business requirements documents, process flow diagrams (as-is and to-be), use cases, wireframes, mockups, test plans, test scripts, testing status report-outs, requirements traceability matrix and other types of documentation
  3. Testing - Own and coordinate testing efforts both pre- and post-launch, including: test planning, test execution, coordination and tracking of defect resolution, coordination and tracking of business owner signoff and participation in cutover planning, including contingency and rollback planning
  4. Influence solution design - Drive consensus on solutions that balance desired requirements, resource and technical limitations, schedule demands and capital allocation
  5. Customer focus and continuous improvement - Practice and evangelize customer focus and continuous improvement in project management via surveys, root cause analyses, project retrospectives, and other processes and tools

SOME YEAR 1 DELIVERABLES

  • Identify and manage scope for new clean energy services business lines
  • Develop repeatable operating framework for project-based business analysis
  • Plan and coordinate testing/QA efforts end-to-end
  • Support ad hoc opportunities that may arise

SUCCESS METRICS

  • Effectiveness and efficiency of requirements gathering (rework to gather/clarify requirements, missed, misinterpreted, or misaligned requirements discovered post-launch)
  • Prioritized business requirements (yes/no)
  • # of customer-impacting defects post-launch
  • Internal customer satisfaction survey - did project deliver scope the customer needed and/or requested

EXPERIENCE

  • Must Have
    • 4-5 years proven experience in gathering, defining, documenting, and tracking business requirements for multiple large, complex, high-visibility cross-functional projects with a technology focus
    • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including excellent listening to achieve understanding and negotiation to achieve alignment
    • Ability to remain calm, poised, and magnanimous during rapid change, while under pressure, or in socially tense or difficult situations
    • Self-starter with demonstrated ownership, bias for action and follow-thru on commitments
  • Nice to Have
    • Demonstrable experience with projects related to new market expansion and/or process and system implementation and/or management
    • Demonstrable experience effectively working with third party partners and vendors
    • 1+ years proven experience in creating product backlog items and user stories and/or translating business requirements into product backlog items and user stories
    • Experience in the energy industry
    • Experience in renewable energy
    • Experience with agile teams
    • Intermediate to advanced business analysis tools skills, for example, AirTable, Microsoft Visio, Microsoft Project, etc.
    • Intermediate to advanced productivity tools skills, for example Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, etc.
