About the job
Red Hat's Information Technology (IT) team is looking for a Splunk Knowledge Manager to join us. In this role, you will work with smart, skilled, and dedicated people that make up Red Hat's Global Information Risk and Security team. You will get a unique opportunity to share your expertise in data management while developing your corporate information security and operations knowledge, as we meet the challenges of securing Red Hat the open source way. You should have passion for data, pursue quality relentlessly, and take joy in making data accessible and functional. As a security-focused Splunk Knowledge Manager, you will provide expert oversight and maintenance of a wide variety of knowledge objects that power our detection and incident response capabilities. You'll grow your knowledge of the information security industry, working alongside your analyst peers to curate critical data sources. You'll need to have excellent communication skills, as you will consult with a wide range of customers and stakeholders across the enterprise. You should also have some skills in the areas of system administration, networking, and cloud technologies, as you will help ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of essential data used to keep Red Hat's information systems safe - from endpoints, to the datacenter, to the cloud. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.
What you will do

  • Develop a thorough understanding of key data sources enabling Red Hat's information security capabilities
  • Contribute to the success of information security initiatives through individual and group projects, consulting with your security analyst peers as a data management expert
  • Collaboratively engage with peer Splunk administrators to ensure that data is ingested consistently, normalized, and correctly aligned to data models
  • Create, audit, and enhance automated detection and alerting capabilities for potential security incidents
  • Partner with other administrators and analysts to enhance development of actionable security intelligence, troubleshooting performance issues and combating threats
  • Seek out information on security industry developments like vulnerabilities, threat activity, attacker techniques, and countermeasures and creatively apply your data management knowledge in an enterprise context
  • Develop data visualizations and analysis techniques to improve continuous monitoring of malware detection, vulnerability management, and risk analysis
  • Maintain compliance with data security regulations and guidelines


What you will bring

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, an interest in information security, and enthusiasm for working with open source technologies
  • Expert-level familiarity with the administration of Splunk Enterprise in large-scale environments, particularly the management of knowledge objects and data models
  • Understanding of statistical methods and data visualization techniques
  • Technical or operational computer system and networking knowledge
  • Ability to work effectively and collaborate both within and across global, diverse, multicultural teams
  • Excellent customer service and written and verbal communication skills to convey information effectively and professionally to a wide variety of audiences
  • Splunk Enterprise certifications (administrator, architect, or developer) and related training courses are a big plus
  • Splunk Enterprise Security experience is a plus
  • Programming or scripting experience with automating solutions is a plus
