Specialist, Analytics and Data Engineering
Job Description

The Specialist, Business Consulting, will utilize data to enable continued performance improvements at a new manufacturing site in Durham, North Carolina.
Reporting to the Associate Director, Engineering, the Specialist for Analytics and Data Engineering is responsible for establishing and implementing methods to collect and convert raw data into useful data systems. This includes, but is not limited to, optimizing data collection from multiple process inputs, improving execution efficiency by aligning data systems with business goals, and conducting data analysis to predict and prevent issues and enhance manufacturing process robustness. The candidate will support a new manufacturing site consisting of end-to-end processing of drug substance and drug product, including culture growth, harvest, lyophilization, product inspection, and quality control laboratories.
The responsibilities of the Specialist include but are not limited to:
- Leverage experience and domain knowledge in databases and manufacturing processes to identify and define analytical opportunities
- Collaborate with Global Engineering Solutions (GES), Supply Chain, Operations, Technology for the Technical Transfer of Data Systems from the current to the new manufacturing facility ensuring risks are minimized
- Reporting information using data visualization and statistical analysis
- Delivering value to the organization through collaboration with site teams and above site stakeholders to provide information that will be used to enable process improvements, increase process robustness, predict and troubleshoot issues, enhance learning and process understanding, and reduce risk with process changes
- Technical ownership for data engineering to optimize data collection and manage data storage
- Serving as technical SME for data analytics
- Contributing to the technical operations, automation, and validation team
Position Qualification:
Required Education, Experience and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Bioinformatics, Biomathematics, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Engineering, Science, or related field AND at least two(2) years relevant work experience OR a Master's Degree with relevant graduate experience
- Previous experience as a data engineer or similar role
- Experience with SQL
- Experience with one or more programming languages (i.e. JAVA or Python)
Preferred Experience and Skills:
- Expertise in coding, data science, data analytics
- Experience with data visualization and statistical tools such as R, Minitab, Spotfire, JMP, databases, and systems that create data such as automation systems
- Communication experience and skills to share information with teams across the manufacturing site through verbal, written, and visual means
- Experience with manufacturing automation systems like OSI PI, Delta V, MES and SAP.
- Familiarity with pharmaceutical or biotech operations
