SMI BI Developer Sr Summary:

This role is an interdisciplinary individual on the SMI Insights team who works closely with multiple stakeholders, with the business and IT, to ensure the data and insights most important to the IMC organization is continual improving. The role will work to understand our data architecture and design, assist with implementation related to scalable BI data stores for structured and unstructured data, and enable new report development, with a specific focus in Power BI. Lead the development of custom queries and data models to support new report development and adhoc analysis projects.

Essential Duties

• Take part and lead, under direction of the SMI BI Manager, in the creation of new, complex reports and visualizations as well as lead the maintenance existing reports. 40%
• Improve upon ongoing reporting and analytics processes, support data integration automation to simplify self-service for BI customers 30%
• Create and apply data design standards and assist in maintaining and documenting our BI data solutions that support reporting, visualizations, and data analytics across our business 15%
• Assist in administration of the BI data integration and reporting environments including data connectivity, system performance, and security 10%
• Other duties as assigned 5%

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree or similar education or experience within a technical discipline required

TECHNICAL/SOFT SKILLS

• Solid experience using SQL and/or ETL required
• Strong working knowledge of CRM (preferably Dynamics) and Marketing data (preference for Adobe and Eloqua)
• Understanding of relational database concepts required
• Strong communication skills required
• Strong desire to master a modern BI tool preferred
• API integration and/or development understanding preferred

EXPERIENCE

• 5+ years in an IT/BI career preferred
• 3+ years in a reporting/data analytics-related role preferred
• Experience working with WebFOCUS, Power BI or other similar BI environment required
• Experience developing new reports and writing new queries to support report development required

LEADERSHIP SKILLS

• Good communication skills with and the passion to learn to support BI across an enterprise with good data practices is preferred
• Able to intake requirements and provide recommended next steps in development
