Senior Structuring Analyst



The position is responsible for understanding and developing analytical tools and methods to provide decision analysis that the overall organization requires. The job requires the ability to individually perform the work of synthesizing and incorporating complex data from multiple sources into comprehensive knowledge, financial models, and business recommendations. This position interacts with multiple company departments. The position requires a thorough understanding of and the ability to model pertinent business value drivers relative to retail natural gas supply.


Functional Expertise:

  • Economic modeling of energy costs and pricing.
  • Ability to read and comprehend utility tariffs and filings in order to evaluate market structure.
  • Development of detailed excel models to evaluate cost to serve in deregulated energy markets.
  • Understanding of risks inherent in full requirements energy pricing products.
  • Understanding of energy price structure and risks borne in different types of structures.
  • Financial analysis of competitor public information including financial statement analysis.
  • Knowledge and understanding of energy products used to mitigate risk in energy pricing.
Business Acumen:

  • Ability to evaluate complex business opportunities by constituent parts.
  • Understanding of the key drivers to profitability in energy markets.
  • Strong financial acumen concerning time value, discounting, and present value calculations.
  • Understanding of accounting concepts and financial statements and SEC reports.
  • Understand regulated energy markets in order to compare to de-regulated markets.

  • Proven ability and demonstrated strengths required to work across functions to gather information and collaborate on requirements of modeling.
  • Ability to take ownership of modeling and analysis and be responsible for work products.
  • Develop modeling with an eye to organization of spreadsheets whereby calculations are traceable and can be understood easily by other users.
  • Balance simplicity with accuracy in the development of modeling approaches.

  • Proven ability to dig into the details. Understand and prioritize details in analysis.
  • Perform work timely and efficiently through modeling efficiencies and prioritization of detailed analysis.

Education, Certifications/Licenses:


  • Bachelor's degree in business, Engineering or other pertinent analytical major.

  • Master in Business
Related Work Experience:


  • Minimum of 7 years working in financial and econometric analysis in the energy sector preferably gas and power.
Applicant may possess a combination of equivalent education and work experience.

Specific Skills & Knowledge:


  • Advanced MS Excel modeling experience. Proven track record of financial modeling and analysis. Deep understanding of energy cost components and pricing structures.

  • SQL, Tableau, Power BI or other data query and analysis tools.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

  • Incumbent works in an office environment.
  • Hybrid work model three (3) days per week in office.
