Applied Research Associates, Inc. is seeking aSenior Strategic Communication Analystfocusing on support to the Office of the Secretary of Defense. The candidate demonstrates mature judgementrequired to interface with external stakeholders and seniorGovernment personnel and supports strategic messaging and outreach.

This position requires a candidate withexperience leading and performinga variety of tasks to support leaders in the Department of Defense including:

  • Developing strategic messaging themes and talking points
  • Creating products appropriate for senior leaders and Congress
  • Developing communications strategies and outreach campaigns
  • Researches, organizes, writes, edits, and produces technical data for major publication projects
  • Organizes material and writes descriptive copy according to standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology
  • Ensures technical documentation is accurate, complete, meets editorial and government specifications and adheres to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format, and style
  • Coordination with portfolio managers
  • Supporting short notice data calls for senior leadership



Required Qualifications:

  • MS/MA Degree in a relevant discipline
  • Minimum of 9 years of related experience; 10+ years desired
  • Top Secret Security Clearance
  • Experience developing and promoting strategic messaging themes
  • Experience producing and editing technical material and documentation adhering to organizational writing standards and guidelines
  • Experience coordinating information and people across multiple organizations
  • Experience supporting DoD



Desired Qualifications:

  • 10+ years desired experience
  • Knowledge of Defense RDT&E
  • OUSD(R&E) experience
  • Strategic communications experience for S&T products/communities
