We are looking for a Senior Solutions Architect (Data Science) to join our team here at The Trade Desk!
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • You have a sustained track record in a commercial setting of making significant, self-directed, and end-to-end contributions to applied mathematics, machine learning and data focused projects. You think beyond just the task at hand to deeply understand the 'why' behind what you are doing from both a practical and scientific attitude.
  • You are an analytical problem solver and trusted advisor. You have the passion and ability to articulate our clients' unique needs and business goals. You help clients achieve them by formulating effective data driven advertising solutions, and strive for innovation.
  • You are a broadly skilled data scientist who can apply various tools, data mining, statistical techniques, algorithms and machine learning principles to identify trends, patterns and insights from variety of data sources, and building models to address client's business problems.
  • You can write code to perform data processing and analysis and build production ready models using common programming languages.


WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
The Senior Solutions Architect (Data Science) will design and build custom solutions that our powered by applied mathematics and related advanced computation for our clients.

  • You will wield effective mathematical communication & consulting skills since this role will interact with some of our company's largest clients.
  • You will actively apply solution design, coding, and exploratory analysis to solve a diverse set of client problems.
  • You will apply background expertise in advanced modeling using established research in related areas such as reinforcement learning frameworks and control theory with some attention to offline model training.
  • You will have wide scope of responsibility from intake to design, development and deployment of solution models.


WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE:

  • At least BA/BS in Mathematics, Operations Research, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field.
  • 4+ years of commercial work experience in an advanced analytics role or something related.
  • Experience working on software designs and applications that are driven by applied mathematics using a variety of programming languages (for example, Java, Scala, Python, R, etc.)
  • Experience in deploying models via EMR and Databricks architectures or other cloud services.
  • Experience working with clients, product, or engineering teams in a pre-sales role or consultative related role.
  • Experience in comfortably working with external consulting organizations and/or technology vendors to accomplish complex use cases for clients is a plus.
  • Experience in establishing reproducibility of models for quality assurance and further model advancement is a plus.
  • Experience in coding and configuring observability of model performance via dashboards and alerting tools are pluses.
  • Experience in non-gradient optimization approaches is a plus.


Our Compensation and Benefits (for NY, CO, CA, and WA residents only)
At the Trade Desk, Base Salary is one part of our competitive total compensation and benefits package and is determined using a salary range. The base salary range for this role is
$116,800 -$214,100
In accordance with NY, CO, CA, and WA law, the range provided is The Trade Desk's reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount may be higher or lower, based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and location. All employees may be eligible to become The Trade Desk shareholders through eligibility for stock-based compensation grants, which are awarded to employees based on company and individual performance. The Trade Desk also offers other compensation depending on the role such as sales-based incentives and commissions. Plus, expected benefits for this role include comprehensive healthcare (medical, dental, and vision) with premiums paid in full for employees and dependents, retirement benefits such as a 401k plan and company match, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, well-being benefits, reimbursement for certain tuition expenses, parental leave, sick time of 1 hour per 30 hours worked, vacation time for full time employees up to 120 hours thru the first year and 160 hours thereafter, and around 13 paid holidays per year.
