About the Role:  

The Senior Research Associate is a key role within the Systems Integration and Sequencing Development team and the company. The candidate would be in charge of conducting performance testing of newly developed amplification and sequencing chemistry platforms in collaboration with other scientists and research associates. This exciting role would be working at the interface between chemistry, molecular biology, instrument and applications teams. The position reports to the Staff Scientist in Systems Integration and Sequencing Development team in our Redwood City, CA office. This is a very exciting time to Join our growing Genapsys team as the technology is rapidly scaling and approaching market adaption.  

Responsibilities:  

  • Develop, optimize and perform NGS Platform workflow steps, including sample preparation, library preparation, clonal amplification and sequencing
  • Perform instrument qualification runs and prepare the qualification reports
  • Design, execute, and document experiments carefully. Critically analyze and derive insights from experimental data, including NGS data analysis
  • Help drive productivity increases through technological insights, exceptional time management skills and a ‘can do’ approach to the challenges at hand
  • Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary organization
  • Follow and develop well-documented SOPs

Qualifications:  

  • Relevant education background: BS or MS in a field such as Genetics, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biomedical engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related fields
  • M.S. or B.S. with 2+ years of industry or academic experience. Strong candidates with more experience will be considered for the Sr Research Associate role.  We can adjust the role for RA I, RA II or Senior RA based on your experience. 
  • Strong hands-on experience with standard nucleic acid techniques, PCR/ isothermal amplification, and molecular biology assay development is required
  • Experience with current NGS technologies and NGS application development in one or more areas: Oncology, Metagenomics, Transcriptomics, Multiplex amplicon panels, etc. is desirable
  • Experience with statistical tools for experimental analysis, standard bioinformatics tools, and programing languages such as Matlab, Python, R etc. is desirable
  • Detail oriented, excellent organizational and communication skills, and efficiency at getting tasks done in time
