We are looking for a Senior PostgreSQL Database Administrator who will be a member of our engineering operations team. The PostgreSQL DBA is responsible for all aspects of PostgreSQL databases including administration, schema design, programming, security and performance. 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain PostgreSQL database servers in all environments
  • Design and implement redundancy and fail-over strategies
  • Conduct performance tuning, performance monitoring, capacity planning, and other related monitoring and troubleshooting tasks
  • Design and implement backup/restoration strategies per data retention requirements
  • Provide support for software upgrades and patching
  • Mentor team members to develop talent on the PostgreSQL team
  • Provide insight to team leadership regarding best practices for PostgreSQL
  • Diagnose and resolve production issues
  • Create users, establish database security and auditability
  • Perform regular audits of DB access and use for HIPAA and SOX compliance 
  • Operate during mostly normal business hours with minimal on call rotation

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years working as a database administrator working with PostgreSQL
  • Expert level SQL, PL/pgSQL, including stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views
  • Expert level Postgres troubleshooting skills including identifying & resolving blocking, long running queries and other events that negatively impact the database
  • Ability to efficiently write database code without compromising data quality, privacy or security
  • Knowledge of database design principles, query optimization, index management, integrity checks, statistics and isolation levels
  • Able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
