Red Hat's Products and Technologies (PnT) Project Management Office (PMO) is looking for an experienced Senior Portfolio Manager to join our global team in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will provide centralized management over a group of projects, programs, and operational work that support the strategic objectives of Red Hat. You'll need to surface up a view of the strategic efforts in flight, benefits, a roadmap view, our portfolio of offerings, and operational improvements. In order to be successful as a Senior Portfolio Manager, you'll need to have a collaborative mindset, ability to build solid working relationships, and establish effective communication channels. You should also have demonstrated success managing a project portfolio, including collecting and aggregating data points, and contributing to executive-level reporting, as well as a focus on achieving business results.
What you will do

  • Work with program and project managers to collect and collate key data elements for executive reporting
  • Measure and monitor the value to the organization through portfolio performance metrics and targets like return on investment (ROI), expected payback period (PP), and scorecards
  • Consistently and effectively communicate business impacts and value of portfolio components, including program and project progress, across various investment areas
  • Continuously review outcomes of projects and programs to ensure ongoing alignment with evolving organizational goals, opportunities, and threats
  • Conduct evaluation of portfolio composition on a regular cadence and make recommendations to project and program managers on adjustments to priorities as changes occur
  • Identify and surface risks as it pertains to the portfolio; both financial and nonfinancial benefits and risks to the organization need to be considered
  • Work effectively with members of the PMO to understand how their roles support successful portfolio management


What you will bring

  • MBA or bachelor's degree in a related field
  • 3+ years of experience working in a portfolio management role combined with 5+ years of experience managing projects or programs
  • Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP), Program Management Professional (PgMP), or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification with proven portfolio management experience
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English; solid interpersonal and leadership skills and analytical abilities
  • Experience working with waterfall/agile hybrid teams
  • Comfortable dealing with ambiguity and working in an hybrid environment, adapting quickly to change, and motivating change within the organization
  • Ability to work effectively across a widely diverse management team, as well as a broad spectrum of internal partners
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work in a very fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to employ critical thinking to manage business strategies
