Spotify’s FP&A group is looking for an outstanding and experienced Senior Manager to join the band and lead its newly-formed Business Casing Analytics (BCA) team. In this fast-paced and exciting role, you will lead a growing team of dedicated business casing specialists responsible for building and tracking performance against end-to-end financial models in support of P&L optimization and capital allocation decisions across Spotify. Under your leadership, BCA will translate business strategies, ideas, and plans into financial analysis and quantitative insights to help Senior Management make prioritization and investment decisions for the company at large.

At Spotify, we are passionate about what we do and deliver on high-impact projects with both quality and pace through tight-knit, cross-functional teamwork. You will experience that first-hand by working closely with a distributed team of significant diversity and breadth, ranging from business owners to data scientists and everything in-between. As a member of the FP&A team, you will craft the process in which Spotify’s senior leadership understands and evaluates our business's health and trajectory. Above all, your work will change how the world experiences audio content for years to come.

This role is based in NYC but will require collaboration and engagement with teams spanning multiple geographies.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead a high-impact and growing team responsible for developing financial models and analytics to measure the P&L impact, payback, return on investment, and NPV/IRR of initiatives spanning Spotify’s core and new businesses
  • Develop, operationalize, and champion frameworks for P&L management and capital decision-making in collaboration with the FP&A leadership team, including investment criteria, calculation methodologies, tracking and actualization, and revenue/cost allocation principles
  • Guide BCA team members as they partner with Business Unit (BU) FP&A teams and colleagues spanning Product, Engineering, Finance/Accounting, Legal, and Business Affairs to develop model assumptions and perform relevant scenario and “what if” analyses
  • Provide holistic thinking and strategic oversight when building and evaluating business cases, taking into account Spotify’s consolidated portfolio of activities and identifying potential areas of alignment and/or overlap between initiatives to ensure efficient financial outcomes
  • Partner closely with the Strategic Planning team to refine the framework, rhythm, and process for consolidating business cases into Spotify’s Long Range Plan (LRP), and use LRP-level insights to improve upon future business casing criteria and direction

Who You Are:

  • 10+ years of relevant financial modeling experience in a complex and matrixed business environment
  • Deep familiarity with financial statements and investment metrics is a must; exposure to SaaS and/or content licensing business models preferred
  • Advanced Excel and Google Sheets skills with a deep understanding of model architecture, formula efficiency, pivot tables, and macros
  • Prior experience with Tableau and SQL in a big data environment (we use Google Cloud Platform at Spotify) is a plus, though you will be required to eventually learn and apply these skills on the job
  • Proven track record of leading high-impact teams, including coaching and mentoring individuals in developing their careers
  • Demonstrated history of building and sustaining collaborative cross-functional relationships across teams specializing in different subject areas
  • Intellectually curious, proactive in your approach to learning and execution, and a creative problem-solver
  • Excellent communicator with experience distilling complex information into articulate narratives that cater to wide audiences, including those who are not quantitative or technical
  • Thrives in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with a focus on generating results and willingness to “roll up your sleeves"
