The Global Sales Intelligence team at Salesforce is looking for a Senior Manager to develop tools and technologies to help our Sales Enablement team achieve extraordinary value. We are looking for someone to join our team to work on groundbreaking R&D projects, to leverage massive structured, unstructured, transactional and real-time data sets from a variety of sources, to analyze usage and behavior patterns. We aim to provide actionable recommendations to enable our sales teams to increase their productivity, remove obstacles and reduce their time spend on on-sales activities.

The ideal candidate will hire and lead a team of world-class data scientists and machine learning engineers, working closely with the Global Enablement team to develop methods in causal inference and state-of-the-art recommendation systems. The resulting product will define the next generation of personalized productivity tools and will be essential in lifting key sales performance indicators.

In detail you will:

  • Define the strategic vision and concrete roadmap to transform the enablement and programs to be relevant, actionable, measurable, and predictable.
  • Lead a high-achieving, innovative, fast-paced team of data scientists and machine learning engineers that partner with cross-functional teams to understand the business problems and requirements, gather information, collect data, apply statistical or machine learning models to identify enablement courses, materials, Trailhead courses, training, and other factors influencing sales productivity, and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Build strong collaboration and connective tissue with cross-functional partners to establish the roadmap for the team, prioritize the most impactful work, and guide the team in solving ambiguous and complex problems.
  • Be a role model and professional coach for data scientists and machine learning engineers. Help them realize their potential by setting clear expectations, openly evaluating performance, upholding accountability, and providing challenges (within and outside their team) to stretch their skills. Develop a long-term roadmap for your team and participate in developing long-term roadmap for the broader teams.
  • Lead the team to deliver strong business results and technology solutions by researching and building cutting edge, leverageable methodologies using causal inference, uplift modeling, experimentation, recommendation systems, applied machine learning and explainability.
  • Be an industry thought leader, publish papers/patents/articles/whitepapers in respected journals/websites and represent Salesforce in relevant industry forums


In order to solve these challenges, you should be able to leverage off-the-shelf or open-source technologies as well as in-house engineering, and feel comfortable with big data solutions, applications and infrastructure:

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Advanced degree in stats, math, CS or another relevant field.
  • 8+ years of industrial experience in independently designing, implementing, and executing the data science projects and roadmap.
  • 3+ years experience in managing Data Science teams. Strong leadership with track records in building high performing Data Science and Data Engineering teams, driving projects, applying strategic thinking, building thought leadership, and influencing senior leaders and executives.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with peers in engineering and product management across teams to set technical and product direction.
  • Excellent communications skills, with the ability to synthesize, simplify and explain complex problems to different types of audience, including executives
  • Excellent presentation skills, and strong influencing and negotiation skills
  • 5+ years of industrial machine learning / statistical analytics experience including recommendation system, A/B testing, experiment design, causal inference, or quasi-experimental methods.
  • 5+ Experience with production engineering systems with SQL and python.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, research-oriented group with several ongoing concurrent projects
  • 3+ year of machine learning product development experience is a plus
  • Experience in collaborating with remote teams is a plus
