The Business Data Engineering team is responsible for building the data extraction, data processing and reporting infrastructure that powers company-wide insights and operational intelligence. By designing and implementing scalable data pipelines, data warehouses and reporting platforms, the Business Data Engineering team serves as the foundation for decision-making at Databricks Business.

Databricks is hiring an experienced Data & BI leader to grow and scale the function globally, as the company continues its hyper-growth and leadership in the Data and AI space. You will be a key member of the Business Systems Engineering leadership team to promoting all our internal business data and key metrics initiatives. You will report to the Director, Business Systems and the VP of IT. You will build a roadmap and direction for data pipelines around product telemetry, business systems data, and aggregated tables work with sales, customer success, finance and engineering business stakeholders. This data architecture will become the foundation to enable you to expand your responsibilities into analytics and predictions.

  • Lead and drive projects from idea formulation, to design, and to implementation
  • Drive great partnership with the business operations teams
  • Set team strategy and be accountable for team plans and deliverables.
  • Grow and build a strong, healthy, and diverse team through hiring as well mentoring and coaching.
  • Collaborate with other engineering teams and cross functional teams
  • Provide strong technical leadership to the team and partner teams
  • Enable the business operation (sales, CS, finance etc), data science and engineering teams to build comprehensive analytics quickly and effectively.
  • Identify the gaps in our data infrastructure and design and build the solutions

What we look for:

  • 12+ years of experience in distributed systems, some of which are in data warehouse and/or data infrastructure software development
  • 5+ years of experience in managing and leading teams to build systems and framework to process large data and real-time events if required
  • Good understanding of business data domains like sales, marketing, finance etc
  • Strong track record of delivering large scale and resilient distributed systems and services.
  • Extensive development experience in cloud environments, such as Azure, AWS and/or GCP
  • Experience building and managing data infrastructure to create the right data with minimal lift using Databricks.
  • Strong hands-on technical skills. Can drill deep into the complex system design and implementation when needed. Comfortable programming in Spark, SQL, Python or Scala
  • Experience in ML is preferred.
