What's the role?
As a member of the Northwestern Mutual Workforce People Analytics team, the Senior HR Analytics Analyst is responsible for using data to create analytics and insights to help HR and business leaders achieve their strategic visions. These efforts include the support of strategic workforce planning, reporting, dashboard development and other analytics projects. The analyst will also collaborate with developers, HR Business Partners and other internal customers. Additionally, the analyst creates mechanisms and processes that provide data, insight, and ensure data integrity. The analyst also assists with data system maintenance and testing, identifies opportunities for constant process improvement, and performs a cross-functional role that requires proven SQL skills and data analysis and analytical abilities. Responsibilities:
- Provides quantitative and qualitative data analysis and reporting of patterns, insights, and trends alongside team members and HR leaders to guide decision-makers and address business questions.
- Access, gather, and analyze data from internal and external sources to drive insights into business problems, decisions, and performance using SQL data sources.
- Produces forecasts, reports, and analyses through Excel or Tableau, etc. to tell a story through data.
- Summarizes analysis into user-friendly deliverables by translating detailed data into business-appropriate communication and recommendations.
- Produce actionable reports that show key performance indicators, identify areas of improvement into current operations, and display root cause analysis of problems.
- Creates forecasts and recommendations based on business data and market knowledge. Utilizes analytics and metrics to recommend improvements to processes and provide data-driven forecasts.
- Takes initiatives to design and develop deliverables based on interpretation of findings and business client needs.
- Collaborates with team for speed, agility and innovation in work.

Bring Your Best! What this role needs:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS, math, statistics, business or related field.
- 3+ years of SQL experience (SSIS and SSRS experience a plus)
- 2+ years with BI tools preferably Tableau and Tableau Server.
- 5+ years of experience creating analytical reports, research and data analysis, or application of statistical research techniques that support business decisions/outcomes.
- Ability to deliver recommendations in written, verbal and presentation form.
- Proven skills in problem solving, research, quantitative analysis and analytical working techniques.
- Expertise in one or more development or analytical tools such as SQL, SAS, Python, R, MS Excel, SPSS or other tool.
- Strong aptitude and desire for learning new platforms, development, analytic and presentation tools; modeling, analytic and quantitative techniques.
- Ability to gather information systematically; consider a broad range of issues or factors; grasp complexities and perceive relationships among problems or issues; use accurate logic in analysis.
- Ability to be responsive to changing business needs, manage and prioritize concurrent assignments, and handle ambiguity.
- Ability to use data mining tools and analytics in order to support the initiatives of assigned business areas.
- Ability to generate new ideas and go beyond the status quo; recognize the need for new or modified approaches.
- Strong customer / client orientation.
- Strong analytical capability with ability to meet deadlines.
