Let's talk about the team:

ResMed is looking for a visionary technical leader to help us build a next generation of data platform in support of our core mission to improve the lives of millions of people worldwide with respiratory disorders. As the engineering leader for our data platform team, you will be responsible for managing ResMed's data lake, including many aspects of our cloud migration, our storage platform, and our compute platform. This team owns the data pipelines for replicating operational and transactional systems into our data lake. This team consists of experts on how to move data around, and are responsible for developing frameworks which allow employees and services to connect with and derive insights from this data. As our engineering organization grows, you will help build the team, ensure we keep the talent bar high, and grow the skills and capabilities of your team. All of ResMed's products are built with performance, scalability, and data-driven decision-making in mind.

Data is at the heart of ResMed's ongoing digital transformation as it powers both analytical as well as AI/ML platforms. As ResMed's business grows, we will have more data from multiple origins available for our users and services to analyze. That will make it even harder for our users to work with the data as it increases complexity. To meet the needs of our customers, we need to ensure we build a platform that gets out of the users' way and just works with minimal effort, so they can focus on creating and providing the best insights possible for our users that ultimately leads to better patient outcomes. We need someone who understands how to build tools that unlock the value of our data, give guidance on which tools to create, and how they all fit together to provide a seamless experience.

  • Support data science innovation & experimentation through agile and experimental data science engineering architecture & processes.
  • Facilitate closed-loop data science solutions in which our models are developed, trained and deployed into production for continuous integration with Propeller products.
  • You are someone who finds passion in the craft, someone constantly seeking improvement and a better way to solve tough problems. You have a passion for producing the highest quality code as well as leading others to do the same.
  • You are someone who either has built or is passionate about building scalable, reliable systems that span the globe and handle millions of requests every day.
  • You understand that the best managers serve their teams, removing roadblocks and giving individual contributors autonomy and ownership.
  • You use a "Product Management" mindset to engage with internal and external stakeholders to align on engineering vision, strategy and priorities to drive measurable results. You should be able to present and drive alignment around the vision and strategy to create a clear long-range roadmap.
  • You have led engineering teams and earned the respect of talented software developers. You are equally happy talking algorithms and data structures as you are brainstorming about agile development process and technology career development. You want to be in the mix technically while providing leadership to your teams.



Let's talk about you:

  • 10+ years of experience in leading software development with a consistent track record of on-time delivery for large, cross-functional projects
  • Extensive experience on architecture design of large-scale Data platforms, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Analytics and application with simple solutions.
  • Extensive hands-on design/coding experience/skills using all the latest technologies (AWS, Apache Spark and Kafka etc.) using for managing data platforms, machine learning & analytics.
  • Someone who has led teams that manage large clusters or who have built a large-scale database or data lake.
  • Extensive experience leading cross-team initiatives
  • Our managers are expected to very technically involved in coaching and driving technical discussions and decisions, and we value the Lead by Example philosophy at ResMed in our engineering managers.
  • The ability to guide a team to achieve important goals together
  • The desire to solve tough problems with quality software at scale
  • An understanding of the value derived from shipping code rapidly to production and learning/iterating on the results.
  • Strong ability to coach developers, helping them improve their skills and grow their careers
  • Strong knowledge of databases, both SQL and NoSQL
  • Experience building high-performance distributed systems
