We are looking for a leader of the Optum Financial Data Science and Analytics organization. This leader will build the Data Science and Analytics organization for Optum Financial. This leader must be passionate about leveraging data and information to derive insights, inform decisions and identify new business opportunities.
This leader will first focus on the management and analytics of mostly structured data, with a focus on data strategy, analytics and delivering insights. This leader will build a team that can partner with the business and technology to define and deliver data products leveraging structured and unstructured datasets. The team will apply statistics, advanced mathematics, and machine learning to recognize patterns, pose business questions, and make valuable discoveries leading to new business opportunities.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Leverage data, information, and insights to identify new business opportunities across Optum Financial, Optum and UHG.
• Collaborate with leadership to gather and prioritize data analytics use cases to determine data strategy, product direction and define business requirements.
• Assist in the definition, design, and delivery of analytics data products across Optum Financial partnering with other areas across Optum and UHG.
• Responsible for defining and delivering the data strategy for Optum Financial to support the analytics use cases
• Turn raw data into meaningful conclusions through statistical models, advanced mathematics and machine learning
• Develop analytics models and insights for provider, payer, customer and employee use cases that drive growth and efficiency
• Partner with Optum Technology to define and deliver the data platform, architecture and analytics tools
• Serve as the internal and external subject matter expert for product offerings, working with various business and operation teams
• Conduct research to identify customer needs and market gaps

Required Qualifications:

• 8+ years combined experience in Data Science and Analytics, with preferably 2-3 years in Analytics solutions for financial services and payment systems and relevant data domain
• Knowledge and experience with Analytics and related Data Management principles (Data Strategy, Data Modeling, Metadata Management, Data Stewardship)
• Strong data analytics background with a demonstrated ability to translate business needs into creative and engaging output
• Working knowledge of business intelligence/reporting tools such as Tableau and Power BI with related experience analyzing data as well as writing queries and reports
• Experience with building statistical models and leveraging machine learning techniques
• Excellent communications skills, both oral and written. Must be able to communicate effectively and confidently with users, team members and management
