Job Description

As a member of one of our Technology teams, you will contribute to building solutions that use natural language processing, cognitive computing, and artificial intelligence applications or the frameworks and infrastructure that support them.

Responsible for creating, maintaining and managing the database infrastructure for Interactions’ Virtual Assistant Platform.

Essential Job Functions:

• Designing distributed database infrastructure for multi-tiered data storage, high availability and fault tolerance;

• Designing, constructing, implementing and supporting data warehouse and data mart databases in PostgreSQL for optimal reporting and analytics;

• Optimizing database operations for maximum performance;

• Working with the Operations team in performing routine and periodic database maintenance and developing/implementing automated maintenance and archival strategies; and

• Maintaining the database infrastructure in multiple data centers to handle the high throughput use cases that are critical to the Platform.

Preparation, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Required:

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent foreign degree) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field and 5 years of experience as a Database Administrator. Alternatively, employer will accept a Master’s degree (or equivalent foreign degree) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field and 3 years of experience as a Database Administrator.

Experience, which may have been gained concurrently, must include 2 years of experience with the following:

• Designing database applications and application architecture

• Installing, configuring, administering, and securing internal and external production servers

• Troubleshooting performance issues and fine-tuning queries and stored procedures

• Developing custom backup/restore and disaster recovery plans for production servers

• Writing code and creating jobs to automate repetitive tasks

• Upgrading and upsizing databases

• Implementing and administering database replication between SQL server databases and dissimilar databases

Note: this is a telecommuting position working from home. May reside anywhere in the United States. Less than 10% domestic travel to Interactions LLC offices required.
