We are looking for a senior database administrator who will ensure that our databases are always available to provide optimal service to users. This will include testing and monitoring in addition to typical maintenance tasks.
This experienced database administrator will possess broad technical knowledge and bring an established work history with Microsoft SQL Server to a high-availability, production environment.
The Administrator will be a key player in our mission-critical Bladerunner initiative to move all on-prem infrastructure into the cloud, as well as future initiatives to adapt and interface with cloud-native data stores.
This person will own the availability and performance of issuer solutions databases and coordinate troubleshooting efforts across the organization.
Incumbent is a strong team player, who is comfortable leading database projects and collaborating with database team members in many areas of Database administration.
Responsibilities:

  • Design and build highly available SQL solutions, making use of log shipping, mirroring and Always On technologies
  • Help migrate Issuer Solutions' on-prem database resources to the cloud, while ensuring database integrity and availability.
  • Monitor and ensure performance, security, and availability of all databases
  • Prepare documentation and specifications
  • Handle common database procedures such as upgrade, backup, recovery, migration, etc.
  • Profile and monitor server resource usage, and optimize and tweak as necessary
  • Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders
  • Work closely with the Data Operations team, and act in a mentoring capacity to other team members
  • Maintain a broad knowledge of operating systems and hardware and making recommendations on improving administration, availability, scalability, and disaster recovery of current systems.


What We're Looking For:

  • A minimum of 5 years working in database administration
  • In depth experience with Microsoft SQL 2005 and later
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft TSQL, and ideally its variants in other popular RDBMS
  • AWS/Azure Database migration experience
  • Skilled at optimizing large, complicated SQL statements
  • Knowledge of best practices when dealing with relational databases
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server merge and transactional replication
  • A good working knowledge of designing and implementing HA solutions, including use of Always On FCI and Availability Groups
  • Capable of troubleshooting common database issues
  • Familiar with tools that can aid with profiling server resource usage and optimizing it
  • An appreciation and understanding of VMWare ESXi technologies with respect to implementing Microsoft SQL Server
  • Experience with Microsoft clustering and/or other clustering technologies.
  • PowerShell hands-on
  • Experience with AWS managed services
  • Knowledge and experience with legacy Ipreo data resources will be extremely beneficial in this position.


Compensation/Benefits Information:
S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is 70,300 - $139,800. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location.
